200MP telephoto cameras will be the hottest new trend, according to Samsung

19 September 2023
The inherent zoom capabilities of these sensors have only been used in main cameras with wide lenses for now. In the future a 3x cam could also reach out to 6x and 12x.

Anonymous, 19 Sep 202361mp of real SONY RGB pixels vs 200mp of scamsung hexadeca ... moreIt is not fake pixel , it is smaller pixel .

Larger pixel will provide better result.

But More pixel will provide you more flexibility when compared to same sized sensor with lesser megapixel. For example if you zoom a 12mp 1/3 sensor to 4x the resultant image will have only 0.75 mp photo. But if you have 200 mp 1/3 sensor zoomed to 4x it will have 12.5mp photo .

Which one you think will be better 0.75mp or 12.5mp ? Atleast you can zoom 12.5mp more without trying to break pixel.

Nokia 808 pure view used ois for the first time in a smartphone as well as super sampling from large megapixel sensor to a smaller one for enhanced details. Also they implemented the lossless zoom (the same tech apple is using now).

If someone truly admires photography then they should stick with prime lenses and not zoom lenses in smartphones like all the manufacturers except sony (they made actual zoom lens in one of their recent smartphone). But actual zoom lens is not good in a smartphone due to constraint in glass/plastic quality and tiny sensor.

Keep in mind the below line:
Phone manufacturers mention the zoom capability of a smartphone which is implemented through multiple prime lenses and not through a single lens with variable zoom range just like sony recent phone.

Ideally below lenses should be used because these are some of the most famous focal lengths
              16mm
35mm (check sony fe 35mm f1.4 GM camera samples)
85mm (check sony fe 85mm f1.4 GM camera samples)
135mm (check sony fe 135mm f1.8 GM camera samples)

And for aperture it should be f/1.2 to f/2.8 max

35mm is much better than 24mm for human subject because it has very less distortion.

85mm is the world standard for portraits. 135mm is also used for very tight portraits or when more background compression is required.

Gsmarena should create an article which includes real camera samples from above lenses so that the majority of the readers can know what is an actual professional camera because all the nerds know but majority don't.

PepperPot, 19 Sep 2023Will the images still look like a water painting when I zoo... moreNo because the resolution will wb above 12mp and also combined with computational photography algorithms it wil be like hybrids of the past but better

Apple has done something like this with the iPhone 15 series but not crazy zooms or sensors or anything like that but still kinda

I don't think that Sony solution will be the solution because it needs a lot of hardware and space for there to be a substantial distance between the zoom levels

And I think this path Samsung is going is the future

But u can't really predict tech these days something better might come up.

24mm 50MP main camera and 70mm 200MP zoom camera will need less space compared to 3 cameras (1 periscope). this kind of dual camera can use smooth variable focal lengths between 1x-2x and 3x-12x, in theory. since, there will be two sensors, zoom camera can use a bigger sensor than a regular zoom camera.

I like the ISOCELL HP2 on my S23U but the stock camera software needs an overhaul imo.
The processing ends up being far noisier than it should be, and photos taken with the GCam port don't have the same problem. Color banding is also a big problem I've run into with the Samsung app.
