20 September 2023
Software-locked repairs which need approval by Apple are the reason behind the downgraded score.

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2023Let's be real for a second. The only reason why Apple ... moreYou do know that you don't have to use airpods, right? There are still wired earbuds, they didn't go away with the 3.5mm...

IMO their ability to sell to everybody is what sets them apart. They have a $40 and a $150 option and people go to the $150 option en masse. It's nkt that they stopped wired headphones, it's that they made them undesirable and them removing was a symbolic gesture to that (but not a real one as you can still buy/use wired headphones).

This is something that EU Commisoion could deal with. Exactly as it was with USB-C.
All genuine and non-genuine repair parts should be treated the same. The quality/price and demand/availability should be the only factor for customers to choose between those parts.
Any other practises are pathological and should be eliminated.

Yes, that's why I'm asking $8500 instead of $45000. Go buy a new car if you need it perfect.

It's great to indicate that some parts are not original but Apple is actually crippling the phone more as punishment for not paying Apple for repairs. Just the non-stop notifications alone make it useless.

GSMarena-isBest, 21 Sep 2023What about second hand iPhone buyers? How do they know if t... moreMost important thing you have to learn is that smartphones are not designed to be sold second hand. I know you will think I am stupid but before that consider this situation.

You buy smartphone and use it for like 3 years. After 2 years the phone start slowing down because of hardware wear. You want to sell it.
In case of android the device will be much slower so people will not be interested in buying second hand android phone but in case of iPhone, you can sell it because apple is still providing updates. But most people don't know that apple deliberately slow down resource use of iPhone through the update so it doesn't strain the hardware and people feel that the iPhone is working smooth. But in reality it is underperforming, not using it's full potential.
If we convince apple not to slow down iphone through update then it will not survive beyond 4 years.

Companies make smartphones keeping in mind that only one user will use it. Not mandatory to have genuine parts. There is no need to check if every screw is genuine or not.

What about second hand iPhone buyers? How do they know if the used iPhone they are buying from some guy have genuine parts and not replaced by cheap parts? I fully support Apple's decision to verify each and every part of iPhone and other Apple products to be of standard set by Apple.

Anonymous, 20 Sep 2023Don't drop your phone. Very simple. Or put a good case.I have only broken a phone once, but it was in a good case too. No case is perfect, and accidents happen. People should be allowed to repair their phones independently.
