Lonteku , 20 Sep 2023To be frank here, Finland want their people to buy HMD phon... moreThat would be better for the country imho because they're a company from scratch that actually managed to survive because of their product quality, business ethics and an underrated company in the eyes of delusional phone reviewers that sugarcoat brands that pay them to review and promote their products, even though their phones haven't had any groundbreakingly unique features or unaddressed bugs that were a nuisance to the respective users.
If it does the job well without any issues, then it's perfectly fine to buy Nokia phones over other brands. After all, every brand name is licensed by their respective ODMs from brands, and I'm not a fan of giraffe-neck type of displays. After all, people only buy products based on their brand name and not their quality or durability.

Yet you talk about logic when you clearly lack any?

Red, 21 Sep 2023I'm sorry but don't apple and Samsung plus others... moreOkay, I will give you Samsung on that one, but if you check Apple's website for Russia, they're still on the iPhone 13 from 2021. And as to why Huawei and ZTE were targeted specifically, it was because of their shady links. While I think it sounds a hair farfetched that Huawei phones would use their 5G tech to communicate with Huawei tower communications devices and serve as a CCP backdoor, ZTE is actually owned by the government.
And that's not to say Chinese phones aren't being completely eliminated from competition. Motorola is owned by Lenovo, which has its registered office in Hong Kong (and operational headquarters in Beijing & North Carolina in the USA), and OnePlus exists in some capacity here in the States.

Ouifuf, 21 Sep 2023Plc is a PUBLIC limited company lol. And businesses exist a... moreAs "PUBLIC" as a renter trying to claim he owns the property. Dunno if 2 cent or just oblivious to the fact that in 21st century China, if you won't bend to the government's beck and call of each and every sort then you can say your aliba-byes to your "PUBLIC" company's ownership. Dictat...potatoes don't really let small nuances like freedom and public opinions shape policy. It's all about the power to command, honey.

Glad that the finnish carriers stop the sale of chinese surveillance equipment. I personally have started to boycott any brand that is chinese and a lot of my friends have done so also. I dont want to support chinese government in any way (of course i know that lots of everything is made in china).

Anonymous, 21 Sep 2023You need to learn how regulation works. You need regulatory... moreYou get proper information, as nokia only sold it's mobile devision (made of their factories in china, Lumia name and well the paperwork) and licensed the nokia name for a few years. Nokia, the company was never sold so nope, no guverment had something to do with the decision. The comparison makes no sense. As what i mean with "private Company" was that the company is ruled and owned by it's stakeholders not by the state,

I'm sorry but don't apple and Samsung plus others sell their phones in Russia . It's just a race hate or company hate due to competition like what happened to Huawei . For me it's a piece of tech nothing more nothing less , if Xiaomi cheap and powerful I will buy it , till another company sell something better.
And putting Ukraine as a shield is so laughable.

Typing this on my amazing Xiaomi 12 Lite: As disgusted as I am with some carriers decisions here in Finland🇫🇮, I want to clarify that it's not a Finnish government's ban and Xiaomi/Poco phones can easily be bought today in more than a dozen websites here and also by just walking inside huge Norwegian owned shops Gigantti & Power. It will only be unpleasant for us Finns not Xiaomi. We used to be rational but we aren't anymore. But as I said, Xiaomi phones are still very easy to buy here and carriers are not blocking Xiaomi not even Huawei devices. My carrier is MOI a subdivision of DNA and we have 2 Xiaomi phones and 1 Poco phone on their network. So Finns will lose.& carriers not selling Xiaomi/Poco will lose much money. I will still buy from Xiaomi (or Motorola) but certainly not from carriers who decides to ban Xiaomi for doing nothing wrong.

Ouifuf, 21 Sep 2023Xiaomi isn't owned by their government lmao. They'... moreYou probably live in a fairytale, nobody commenting here is from Finland and if therr are some, maximum 2, they most probably are happy about the decision.
As for "xiaomi is not owned" by the guvernment, you also do not know what a comunist rulling system means, EVERYTHING is owned by the guvernment. To only think that the company has the right to be on it's own, with it's own decisions, it is ignorance in itself...but hey i'm the one saying nothing...don't worry be happy staying in the clouds. It seems everybody does it this days. No studying, no researching, no nothing, but telling others what's the "truth".
