Anyway user cnt get a perfect device when buying Apple for many obvious reasons this is just one of them.

Anonymous, 16 Oct 2023Matter of time before Samsung and others follow. Hope not or it will be a black friday for every user at every day.

Hein, 16 Oct 2023The phone is never really off, and in addition to being com... moreExactly. It's not clear if this will work on any iPhone or only those that haven't gone through OOB setup, but that doesn't really matter. Either way, you can be sure that Apple will choose to/be compelled to enroll "interesting" people in a "special" iPhone experience at the direction of police/security services either when they buy a new iPhone or when they come in for service. This is even more egregious when you consider how many times Apple employees/executives have testified that it wasn't technically possible for them to build in backdoors, and now they've built the biggest one of them all.

McDonald's are using this kind of tech on their restaurants with wireless charging pada for ages. You need charging? Sure, they steal things about you, data...sure.

Inocent people would think Im lying. See around, you start going to McDonald's and dont google it, dont searh for it on web, you going to One, eat there, wireless charging tour phone and they start seeing ads about McDonald's and so on. Cmon...

How I miss the days of Symbian was just to buy the phone, download some java games and that's it... I also miss the beginnings of Android, there were fewer complications than now

Bet it will come without wireless chip, so it need to be bought as extra.

Does this mean apple always had a backdoor which allows them access of any idevice without any physical human interaction?

This means the iOS team has no incentive to release a GM that is good. They will just throw in buggy releases and assume they can just fix the bugs later in store. It's bad enough we have iOS 17 requiring update right after unboxing. The QC of iOS will worsen.

lewein, 16 Oct 2023That's actually a pretty neat idea.It definitely is, but wouldn't it be great if we know how it works? Would Apple restrict it to only work for off factory iphones, or can the tech actually push updates to an already activated iPhone? And what kind of access does Apple have?
