Apple developed new in-store device for wireless software updates

16 October 2023
The device will update sealed iPhones inside the Apple store before they are sold to customers.

That's actually a pretty neat idea.

Surely they have been doing it for a long time and they say it now in case they are discovered hehe!! It is very obvious that the phone manufacturers are desperate and I am talking about everyone and everything, at the point where we are, the ceiling has already been reached, there is no need to innovate or they do not want to spend on innovating for fear of not recovering the investment... so What's next is to do this kind of thing

Spanky, 16 Oct 2023This is a new idea: throttling their phones even before the... moreIs it actually throttling the device though? Or were there runaway processes in iOS that caused heating in them?

The phone is never really off, and in addition to being completely updated - or taken control of - it can do anything.

Imagine the security risks this means for important people and environments where security is paramount. You would be crazy to allow iPhones in this case.

This is a new idea: throttling their phones even before the unsuspecting customer gets to use it for the first time. Way to go!

Next thing you know, people will avoid entering the fruit logo stores because they might even „update the performance“ of the phones you already have in your pocket, without your knowledge or consent.

These devices are never really turned off. Talk about security and privacy.
People have to learn to live without them, because they have no control what so ever over those devices.

Wow, very interesting to know how it works. I bet those tech "journalists" will surely ask Apple... NOT.

Will be interesting if some phones were stuck in bootloop or corrupt updates, or won't shutdown and drain the battery, and when a customer opens the new iPhone, voila, "you opened your new iPhone wrong!" LOL.
