kuzuri90, 30 Oct 2023I love to change my mobile phone every year but based on th... moreA 100 USD phone is not bad and can be used to do almost all regular tasks a casual user need.
Paying above that means user wants some additional options on their phone and thus they start to pay more.
I used to buy 100 USD phones but in 2020 i bought around 200 USD phone.
Now i think next time i buy 100 USD phone as those 100 USD phones are good enough to fullfill my daily phone usage pattern.

I used this phones in no particular order, as I remember the model numbers still so I listed them down
          Samsung V200, E840, Z560, D500, D600, D820, D900i, F480, U900, G800, G600, E950, U600, Star, S8300 Ultra Touch, S8000 Jet, Corby, Wave 525, S8500 Wave, Galaxy Mini
          > I was a Samsung fan and I worked part-time even as a student so I was able to afford them. I used these phones from a few months to about a year, some where stolen, some stopped working. I really liked sliding phones before but unfortunately they die easily because of the their flex cables failing. (it was the reason I started learning how to fix my phones due to flex cables, battery and LCD replacements)

          ... then...

Samsung SII, SII HD LTE > I forgot how long
Nubia Z9 then Z11 > bought from time of release and still functional but not being used, replaced by Nubia X as my primary phone
Nubia X > 2018-2019, 1 year because the board died after smashing it because I was drunk, used to be my primary phone, I can't import parts from China. Replaced by my good old LG V50
Sony XZ1 Compact > first secondary phone, bought it 2018, it is one of the best phones for me, really well-built
Nubia Z17S > released in 2017 but only bought in 2021 because I like the bezel less look, gave it to my brother after months of use as his secondary phone to this day
Sony XZ2 Compact > bought it because my XZ1 Compact screen broke during a freak accident and I cannot find any original LCD replacements, still use it as secondary phone today
Pixel 4a > 3 months, bought and sold just because I was trying out small compact phone to possibly replace my XZ1 Compact
LG V50 > bought and used since 2019 and handed over to my sister which she still use today and works great
Huawei P40 > 2021-present last phone I bought and will still use it for years to come until I see a good phone which has a smaller screen/dimensions

          note:
          > I generally use 2 phones, replacing each one of them doesn't happen at the same time
          > I hand most of my good smartphones to my siblings and cousins, yes I have an extended family type.
          > I use prepaid so I buy phones at full price from the start because I don't want to be locked in to a phone model for 2-3 years because I generally like switching
          > I sometimes buy brand new phones, sometimes refurbished, I don't really care if it was already used as long as it is in pristine condition and the battery life is close to 97 percent
          > buying a brand new high end phone is preferrable but I cannot always afford them so I wait for months or even just buy a refurbished or 2ndhand just to save on costs.

I love to change my mobile phone every year but based on the economics of my country (a premium phone will cost me 4 months of my wage) I have to keep my phone for years

                        I'm using a LG G8x, for 3 years now.
Before that I had Redmi 2 Prime for 8 years, until battery and service parts were scarce.

My reasons for not changing phones so often:-
                        1. Missing features like microSD, 3.5mm, removable battery, etc. (Redmi 2 had remov. batt.)
                        2. Phones getting heavier and larger, (Redmi 2 was tiny, with 135 grams weight)
                        3. Privacy instrusion by Google/ Apple increasing with each OS/ gen. upgrade, which I don't want as I don't use majority of their services.

If the industry actually becomes consumer friendly (and indepedent from whoever is controlling them behind the scene), then I might change phones every 3-4 years.

My P30 Pro New Edition(8+256GB) is almost 3 years old. In the last days of warranty I gave it to Huawei service centre saying my battery life is bad. Thay changed the battery and screen, so, I would say it's actually a 1 year old phone. Battery is great, it moves really well, pictures are very good, support is mostly dead(don't care much), I'm going to keep it for maybe another 1-2 years.

I dont change phone often. 2006 - Sony Ericsson D750 (problems with joystick, but still works), 2011 - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo (GPS stop working after drowning, I still use it with TV as radio with HDMI), 2018 - Sony Xperia XZ1 compact (battery expanded after 3,5 y).
Since I dont want Apple or china, my next phone gonna be Samsung S-series

For me it mostly goes like this: buying 1year old phone and using it 1.5-2years.
Funnily, it's mostly like, old phones are better then new ones, every time I buy.
                              Mystery.

Diablo immortal, Genshin impact, Forza Motosport and many else forget it.
When you run CPU and GPU usage plus ram zsage on backround with all apps which usually running you get somewhere to a SD695.
In case you charging your phone too Helio A22 performance at most. Especialy with Apple 15 the fail edition.

Using a S10e now and enjoying it since my last phone was a A20e, it got stolen 4 months ago. Performance is great since I play most of my games on low settings but the next phone I'm aiming for is a S21 Ultra or higher. Wanted to experience each android os and ui version, a20e stopped at android 11/ one ui 3.1, s10e stops at android 12/ one ui 4.1, but im worried by the time I get the s21u it will have android 14 one ui 6.0. Would like to use a custom rom for my s10e so I get to use android 13/ one ui 5.1 but I'm worried it will get bricked.
