RobinArc, 29 Oct 2023I'm using Nokia 8 since November, 2017. It's almo... moreKeep this as your main phone, forever and for always. If you're going to get a new phone, get the Nokia XR21. Why? It's meant to last, even with the bare necessities met without being too extravagant.
My daily driver is also a Nokia 8, and it lived through all my highs and lows. I've never had any problems with it.

Dear GSMarena, kindly let us see the pool results after we vote. This used to be the case. Now it doesn't say anything. Don't go worse like the other websites please.

Mills, 29 Oct 2023Old flagship like Note 9? Yea, no. Note20 Ultra 5G is better.I don't agree. I "upgraded" from the Note9 to Note20 Ultra. Had Note9 for two years and N20U for almost 3 years. The experience was't good when I switched. I lost my beloved VR and I had to start using TWS earphones even for gaming because they put the bottom speaker on the other side and it's covered when you're gaming. I also expected a huge performance upgrade but that only happened in non-gaming tasks, gaming experience wasn't much better and thermals are bad since day 1. Software updates helped a lot but it took a long time and now I can play only on low details and it's still throttling. Also the S-Pen is on the other side now which is far from comfortable (I'm right handed). Plus the new camera cut-out, it always bothers me even after 3 years. Nah, Note9 was fantastic and it was a gateway to other worlds with VR. That said, the Note20 Ultra is the most beautiful phone I've ever seen so at least there's that :). I will upgrade to S24 Ultra next year and already look forward to it, it's sinful people can only play on low details on Note20 Ultra and it has been like that since release date because of bad thermals... PS.: I'm not even mentioning removal of dozens of other features which I used daily like iris unlock for unparalled security with payments, snappy and perfectly placed fingerprint reader for unlocking the phone about 500% faster than what the N20U does or heart rate, VO2 and stress sensor - had to buy Watch Active2, but later found out it doesn't even support VO2, so then I had to buy a pricey Watch3 which stopped getting updates after 12 months. What a joke... I just hope Samsung blows me away with S24U or I'll be really pissed.

What confuses me about this comment thread
The survey asked a simple how old is your smartphone question..
But for some reason people are commenting paragraphs of information with spec sheets with back stories , reasons why they bought it basically an entire novel

My current phone is the Huawei Mate 20 X, which I believe was released in 2018, I'm not sure when I will upgrade to another phone unless it has all the features I'm looking for. ex: I need an IR blaster and at least a 7in screen and a phone that doesn't look unsightly. I wanted to get the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra global edition (non-flashed) but they sold out so fast and all that's left out there is the China version flashed with a global rom which is not what Im looking for, so until I find a phone that meets my requirements, I will continue to use my Mate 20 X.

77, 29 Oct 2023🤣🤣🤣🤣 , I can't believe it I bought the 15 pro black in... moreI'm not sure you're trolling or what? I can go back just using swipe action from the left to right on any app in since iOS 16. From my Yahoo email app, to brave web browser to my e-wallet app and so on 🙄🤦🏻♂️
On iOS (I think it started since iOS 15) you can go back to previous page or what ever you called it by just swiping from the left just like on Android. Just from the left. Right side still no function.

OnePlus 7t Pro McLaren, 12gb Ram, dual SIM, macro and wide angle and telephoto lenses, 90hz and also no notch in the screen. Bought November 2019. Still a hard device to beat and with a custom ROM I'm still up to date regarding OS and apps.

My current phone is a Sony Xperia 1 Mark II XQ-AT52, 8/256, SD865 5G.
Phone released: June 2020
The last non-Google Play update: June 2022
Purchased second-hand from former user: August 2023
Current usage: Almost 3 months
Replaced phone: Xperia 1 SOV40 (December 2021–October 2023, now given to my dad to replace his XZ1, total usage: 22 months)
Planning to use until: End of 2025 (+/- 26 months) as main, continuously as co-companion
Replacement Phone: Probably Xperia 1 V
So, my phone is 3 years old and will be used for 2 years+ as main before getting replaced by a newer one later on.
And my secondary phone as a companion, formerly my main from 2019 to 2021, is the Sony Xperia XZ Premium from 2017, 4/64, SD835 4G. I purchased it in December 2019, and my current usage, both as a main and companion phone, is now 4 years old and 6+ years since it was released. It's still very usable now, despite being out of update.

Anonymous, 29 Oct 2023No. Not necessary. My previous phone was device from 2... moreTrue, do you remember the mighty power hungry powerful ARM CORTEX A15, It needed 15w TDP that was similar too the S888 at 10W Tdp, the S888 was the 2nd best CPU from Snapdragon, because you could overclock upto 50% too run it, but it had 3x the torque power off today's Gen2 Snapdragon that uses 5w tdp

ShubhamDeshmukh, 29 Oct 2023Exactly my situation. I love Samsung software, but they don... moreI was in your situation (needed to replace my A40) and in the end I bought the S22, although it is completely overspecced for my uses: I have a digital camera, so I don't need great photography, and I am not a heavy user by any means. I just needed something that felt comfortable in my hands and in my pocket, with a small and good screen, and with software support for the future. So I guess Samsung got away with it, since no competitor is making that 200-300 euro compact midranger.

I'm currently using the Galaxy S22 Ultra. It's a good phone, but the battery is... not very good. I'm a gamer, and the Exynos 2200 is just too inefficient. I'm sure i would've been better off if i only used social media, but i just can't last a full day with it if i play games on it. Planning on getting the S24 Ultra or S25 series, since I'm still paying this one off until October of 2024. at that point, I might either wait for the S25 or buy the S24 Ultra if it's really good again

Replacing every 2 years after my phone from my network carrier is paid.
My Current phone is Motorola edge 40 pro before for exaactly 2 years had Xiaomi Mi 11 lite 5G and before that had Moto X4 and before Lenovo Vibeshot.
Phones which gets 5 years old have zero value and are useless to sale.
Like you cant teach old phone new tricks because even if it will be very updated on software side its hardware will be too old to run latest apps and games. Especialy phones with lots of excessive fat and bloatware inside. Like Apple, Samsung, Xiaomi, Opo, Vivo, Realme etc.
Only stock android non google pixel phones can last and works 5 years without issues.
Google phones uses crazy stupid CPU and GPU which is equal to 3 years old chipset already thus a 4-5 years old phone feels like 10 years old already.
My Xiaomi MI 11 lite 5G was exactly 2 years old when i replaced it and my current Motorola edge 40 pro will be also 2 years old when i replace it for something new and fresh.
I really dont want to end with outdated phone uable to run new tricks also i hate curved screens so this is my first and last phone with a curved screen no matter what.
Phones like 5 years old are usually in so bad condition they have zero value for sale also in so bad shape that nobody buys them even for 10-20 euros.
