sors, 01 Nov 2023Lol if you don't want some features that doesn't ... moreSadly Android is going the way of iOS.

I have been modding my Android phones and flashing custom ROMs since 2012. Every year, I remember how it gets harder and harder to root the phone, flash another recovery, ROM and kernel or modify certain features.

How every Android version progressively adds more and more restrictions and you need more and more workarounds for root apps and functions to work, and eventually they stop working entirely.

Android is simply becoming an empty husk of its former glory and just a pretend "open" alternative to iOS.

Zendroid, 31 Oct 2023So now we can't really use the Samsung phones anymore?... moreyou clearly didn't fully read the article, because if you did, you would've noticed that is stated this was an opt-in feature

Why so much hate? If you want it, turn it on. If you don't want, keep it off. It's as simple as that.
Or if you don't like that option being present at all, don't buy Samsung.

good to see such a security feature. I enabled already. I see no reason to complain.

fine if optional but the moment they stop apps being installed from unknown sources is the moment android is dead.

As long as this remains optional, I'm cool. If not, I'll never recommend a Samsung again.

Talk about an irrelevant update. About the only remotely useful thing here is the blocking of USB commands...but only if you're either dumb or desperate enough to ever use it. Like really? Plugging your phone straight into random USB ports? Sure, if you don't have an anti-data adapter and got really no other choice, just keep the thing locked and they can't do jack (well, maybe on Samsung phones they can, because their phones are riddled with security holes). But even if that ain't the issue, you gotta be mad to trust random ports like that. If someone rigged that to output insane voltages, it'll fry your phone. ALWAYS have a powerbank in-between your phone and random ports. Without exception. Ideally just have a mini-charger with you and use that on electrical outlets that aren't USB ports. The fact that they even bother announcing such an update gives a really sad outlook on what people do with their phones.

Everyone raging how their freedom is being taken away and ignoring this is optional. All these features were present as individual toggles before, now they are a single toggle. This is meant for people who are not tech savvy like elderly or for corporate phones where administrator enforces this to ensure stricter security. And if you don't sideload, it's actually smart to turn it on for extra security.
