Auto blocker doesn't protect my device, it protects Samsung's interests. Instead of scanning the downloaded app file for viruses, which would be helpful, it restricts the app installation. Moreover, it scans the app after installation, which would be too late. How does this protect my device?
I have neither heard of any cases where malicious software was transferred via public usb cables etc.
Obviously it supports Google's app ditstribution monopoly.

So now we can't really use the Samsung phones anymore? Shamesung. Obviously!

Please note the "Devices operating on One UI 6.0 or above."
If the 2020 devices where not going to support One UI 6.0, surely Samsung wouldn't have included all of them, and the mistake argument can be debunked since its extremely unlikely that they would accidentally list ALL of the 2020 flagship devices.

        I'd rather have Minecraft sideloaded.

At least it's not enabled by default

potato4k, 31 Oct 2023No. By default, Android doesn't have strong safeguards... moreLikewise they may just as well easily not have this Auto Blocker feature on... or, crazily enough, not understand it and still turn it off!!

Although Samsung mentioned those devices in its One UI 6-related article on its website, those devices will only get some Galaxy Enhance features. X. In the footnotes of the article, Samsung mentioned that the Galaxy Enhance-X features it mentions in the article will come to devices running One UI 6.0 (or higher), including the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20. Requires agreement to mcAfee data collection to enable this feature.

Any features to increase security on Android is welcomed. It is too easy for a lay user to sideload apps on Android, even by accident. Safeguards like this are long awaited.

No Notch Life, 31 Oct 2023Ok... so basically protections that already exist on Androi... moreNo. By default, Android doesn't have strong safeguards against sideloading. It only provides a dialog box asking if you allow the current app to install an app from external source or not. That's it. It does NOT show any warnings or anything extra. It only ask okay or not to install, and any lay users can accidentally tap on okay without knowing any better.

Not sure if GSM will cover this, but Samsung announced One UI 6 compatibility through articles in Samsung Newsroom. This compatibility includes the ZFlip, ZFlip 5G, ZFold2, Note 20 series, and S20 series. Samsung is pushing ANOTHER UPDATE to these devices, which is genuinely a surprise since most sources said that these devices wouldn't be updated.

Ok... so basically protections that already exist on Android by default. lol

Can you select apps to allow to download unknown apps though?
