Xiaomi is also making the unlock process much more difficult.

Modest Mind, 08 Nov 2023Every one who wants to block all ads and use some very effe... moreI didnt unlock bootloader in my redmi note 5 AI and didnt see any ads for 5 years using it. Also i dont see any ads with my Poco F5 now for like 5 months using it.

If you unlock bootloader then you install a custom android on it so you get updates from that custom android and not from MIUI.

It's so weird to complain that you wont get updates so i wont use there product anymore even tough you anyways use custom android on your phone that wont affect you what this so called infested ads miui get updated or not

Well it be like obvious when you have installed some custom rom on your phone by unlocking bootloader as why would you unlock bootloader if you dont want to go with the custom rom rout ?

So the whole thing is about installing and hiding more Chinese spyware. Just like Huawei.

notafanboy, 08 Nov 2023How is the UI bad though?Exactly, I never understood why some people regularly complain about the UI... MIUI is clean, smooth and very "modern"...

What does it mean: level 5 on their community forum?

                      This is hard...
I've always liked XiaoMi for their moddability...
But then again they said they will support newer phones longer, and with HyperOS... well can't comment the performance since I only demoed the 14 Pro for a bit.
It seems to me XiaoMi want to go full apple by integrating all the ecosystems they have, they are not called "apple of china" for nothing after all.
So they had to lock the OS to make the walled garden.
What strikes me odd is the unlock request, why the need for a week approval time? are they using that time telemetry user one last time? no one knows...

Overall if HyperOS proved to be good, I wouldn't mind as much, most people probably won't too.
We can see the last GSMa poll that people keep their phone "only" for 4 years, still within new support timeframe policy :D

                        Good decision from Xiaomi

Shitty Xiaomi, can't downgrade without unlocking bootloader and that's becoming even more difficult, so you're forced to buy new phone, since they practically have only a few repair centers for the whole world...

3 device unlocks per year? Then every times peoples do the proper request to unlock their devices and wait for a certain time, and even though already gain level 5 in community forums, the answer that coming to them will always like this... "We are sorry, you cannot unlock your device this time. The maximum number to unlock devices for this year has been fulfilled. Try to unlock your device next year."

                              Xiaomi.eu sucks anyways

Finaly some good news for those who loves to void thir warranty by doing bad practicies.

Lol to those who always saying Android is better than iOS because you can root or install custom ROM. Now your favorite brand ban you from getting your much awaited HyperOS iOS style.

                                    LOL 🤣🤣

Thanks to open bootloader i installed already Android 14 with full October security patches in my Oneplus5 from 2017. But of course, brands want you to buy new devices, not keep the old, despite them saying they want to protect nature...

Glad I got my bootloader unlocked for a year now on my Redmi, screw Xiaomi's new policy
