teorema67, 09 Nov 2023Well then that's quite OK, let me fantasize: assembly ... moreYou haven't considered marketing and promotion expenses.
If we go by your logic, Apple is 20-30 dollars in loss per device.
But in reality apple generate approximately 25% net profit.
It's good you said you fantasize it cause it is fantacy.

No phone should cost more than a $900 with the little increments they give .

Well then that's quite OK, let me fantasize: assembly 12 dollars, manuals & localization 120 dollars (10%), development costs per unit 100 dollars, transport costs and components delivery 100 dollars, software dev & support over the years 100 dollars, reserves for warranty and replacements 150 dollars, maintaining customer services 50 dollars, the rest is profit 🙂

Anonymous, 09 Nov 2023More than $500 for just the hardware. Other costs not inc... moreBut, mi11u at 600 is still high value giving you 3 hi res sensors as opposed to low res ones on other phones.
Similarly I bought xperia like specced phone, actually better specced for half a price.

imagine you can kit your own iPhone 15 Pro Max from Shenzhen market? 😳

I am not interested in the SD reader or the headphone jack, but removing the charger from a device that needs to be charged and on top of that with the excuse of benefiting the planet and that people allow it says a lot about how humanity is, this happens at the beginning of the 2000s and that company would have already gone bankrupt

No phone should cost more than $500 hahaha but anyway...

It's most likely much less than $500.

They don't consider that Apple orders parts for 10 million units at a time, and can negotiate extremely good prices.

A common annoyance with Apple's robbery prices is that they ask maybe $200 for 8 -> 16 GiB RAM upgrade on computers, but only pay $10 for the actual extra chips.

They should add a good charger on iPhones and the price should drop by 100$. Apple not gonna be the king forever

More than $500 for just the hardware.
                          Other costs not included.

Some people here deny the fact chinese phones cost way less to be made due to high amount of domestic components used that are far cheaper than foreign counterparts.

Still some blindly believes in 5-10% profit margin on xiaomi phones. 🤣🤣🤣

Mi 13U has easily at least $450 margin in China.

The rest of the sum is for the „privilege“ of having the bitten logo on the back.

Basic price is still so so, even considering it's high, if the memory grow, it goes to heaven...
Foldables are similarly pricy but on another lvl, folding tech is pricy while not so reliable as flat one and cameras are weak while folds got double thickness overall.
It's all a joke to the eyes.
Since Mate X2 happened, no 10x in folds, no big sensors or cheaper prices.
Feels like phones will hit a 10.000€ soon.
