Also cod:mobile was released 1 October 2019 that is only 4 years ago. it even run on phones with helio P60 and SD625/636

Midrange has longer bat... morethis hasn't been true since the 8+g1 and the chip shortage in general. midrangers nowadays use older, less efficient cores. these are no sd625 times anymore. the only efficient midranger nowadays is probably the D7200 (2+6 modern cores) and the 6 gen 1 (only because of its super low clocks).

Still using the SD845 and Adreno 630 (256x2 ALU's) in the LG v40. Haven't even opened the V60 or Note 20 Ultra. I even got an oppo Find X2 Pro but still haven't needed to use them. The SD865 is plenty powerful for me. The SD845 is too. Even though the SD845 is 4GLTE the Unlocked QA7 v40 supports like 25 BANDs and run the net and 2K videos without issue.

Well nothing against older chipsets but since you cant teach new tricks old dogs older chipsets arent option to go for they are likely to say last pick if everything else will fail.

For speed yes. For battery life no. Midrange has longer battery life.

I'm excited for next year's Snap Gen 4 and the Nuvia cores it will bring. That should be a very nice generational leap we haven't had for a while. But honestly phones are fast enough, they don't really need more performance right now. Once Nuvia cores come out, I hope Gen 5,6, and 7 keep the exact same performance and only improve on battery life 10-20% each generation for both CPU side and GPU. I'd love it if when I launch a demanding app the chipset didn't suck down power like crazy.

What most people aren't aware of about modern SoC is that it's now beyond powerful, if not overkill, as a mobile OS. In the old days of Motorola Atrix 4G and ASUS Padfone, the idea of using the smartphone as a PC didn't take off because of the rather underwhelming SoC. Nowadays, even the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 can be on par with the 10th/11th gen Intel Core i3/i5 CPU.
We should be able to easily use our smartphone as a PC now, especially since native Desktop Mode has already been a thing since Android 10. I have been using my Windows laptop less after using Samsung DeX, Huawei EMUI Desktop, and LG Screen+. Now, I only bring my phone and lap dock when travelling light.

Using a Galaxy Note 10 (Exynos 9825). I don't have any exagerated needs that demands me to use Dimensity 1 billion or Snapdragon 15 Gen 1000. If it works well, then that's it.
If I was a videomaker or e-gamer, I would surely get phones with newer chipsets that could hold performance over long hours of usage without turning into a volcanic rock.
