Google will feel vindicated, but note that this doesn't mean blue bubbles on Android.

lmao, good for Apple if they keep the green bubbles.

Maybe people will finally grow up and get over it.

On the other hand, for anyone happy over this, go read who owns the servers for RCS

Most likely neither is going to happen. Apple will keep the blue bubble/green bubble divide by displaying all RCS messages in green bubbles. And those using an alternative messaging app such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Line, Viber, WeChat etc. will just keep on using those apps instead of the default Google messaging app.

I actually think this is great news for phone messaging. I'm glad Apple has adopted RCS support finally. I don't really care if it's still green on a iPhone. I care about encryption and everything else RCS offers. Can't wait.

Rather than being forced into some messaging interoperability standard dictated by some government, Apple probbaly see it's better to just tack on RCS support just to dismiss the argument.

As soon as they were integrated they gave everyone the middle finger and started moving to proprietary designs again.

The timing of embracing an open standard again is unusual. Maybe antitrust lawsuits were going to hit really hard.

Meanwhile, more than 80% of China uses Wechat, and that's more than 1 billion. Latest stats shows that more than 480million Indians use Whatsapp. Those are just 2 countries, and their numbers already way above the whole US population.

So yeah, practically speaking, nobody cares about iMessage.

I don't want the world. I just want a removable battery, headphone jack and SD card slot.

I know apple never had some of those things, but for lame reasons, other smartphone companies want to copy apples design. If getting want I want means Apple needs to include all of what I said, so be it.

Curious how Apple will "support" it. Have a feeling Apple will simply support RCS if the carrier you're using support it, ie just putting support for the protocol on the messages app. This is different than Google's Messages on Android where Google is the one setting up the server and providing the service itself.

And yes, this will literally be a US only thing as majority of carriers outside the US don't support, or even have dropped support for RCS. If you're outside the US and using RCS, your are highly likely using Google's RCS.

Why would they target Nothing like that. Poor Nothing.

You people are crazy if you think Apple will finally get rid of green text bubbles. The only new things will be RCS features and the "Texting via SMS" will be changed to "Texting via RCS".
