Samsung Spain denies a change to Galaxy S24 vivid mode is coming

02 February 2024
The change in color saturation is intentional and will not be altered for now.

I have the base S24 and there IS a difference between the vivid and natural modes.
I think people are exaggerating. I compared to display to other flagship phones and it doesn't appear washed out or dull. The situation might be different for the S24U tho.

I have the base S24 and there IS a difference between the vivid

Maybe the lower vividness is a direct result of the matte coating?

Anyways, this is a good but weird step, why not have 3 options,
Vivid - DCI-P3 with saturated colors
Natural - SRGB with accurate colors
Pro - DCI-P3 with accurate colors.

So it is a downgrade then. Because the DC-P3 coverage for S24 series only reach about 86-87% while previous models are about 99%.

And people are really believing Samsung will fix their phone with updates.

You can calibrate way you want.

After years samsung has admitted it was bad calibration, but somehow praised by bias reviews.

This is the first time I've ever used Vivid mode on a Samsung phone. Usually it's way too saturated. I hope they leave it be.

It's alright it they want present more accurate profile for people.
But there also should be a simple matter of choice.
If someone wants eye bleading colors, fine, you have it also.

This is an L for Samsung. People should chose what they want, not forcing them.

That's a stupid decision if it's real, they they shouldn't force people to use what they want, it's ok to provide an an accurate color profile (natural) but not if you make both profiles look the same.

Samsung US is saying something completely different to Samsung Spain
Completely messed up with the display this year
If they fine tuned it to deliver more natural colours, for that particular purpose Natural mode is there
Vivid mode should display more vibrant n saturated colors

Nice one how Samsung copies Apple. Now the company will decide for you. Lol

Defect Will they fix it ?

I recently checked out the devices at a nearby store and tbh didn't find any display issues, maybe because I actually like and prefer the slightly altered colour profile on the S24 serie compared to their older phones

Samsung started this on the Z5 so it is a choice. I use my Z4 on natural mode and the Z5's vivid setting has less punch than the Z4's vivid setting. It just isn't as aggressive as the S24.

My s23 is less vivid than my old m51 in a good way... specially the red and green

Poor Samsung is slowly but surely headed downhill. I have used the S series since the S2 and the reason is the nice vivid screen. That's it. Then on the Vanallia S21, they dumped the QHD screen for an FHD screen, but at least it was still a "vivid" screen. Now the S24 has a bleached-out dull screen ( apparently the dull boring people are happy with their new dull boring screen)

For the sake of Safety ??? What a joke, it's simple shrinkflation......they keep the pricing the same but you get a lesser screen. If I want an S24 dull screen experience, I'll just go to Moto and order a couple of Moto G Plays for a heck of a lot cheaper. Ordered two S24 and got rid of them.
Guess I'll go to Swappa and snap up a couple of mint condition S22/23's and throw them in my desk drawer to use at a later date. As far as new phones from Samsung, I am done with them unless things change in 2025. I guess we will see...................

"The colors on the newer device in Vivid mode were less saturated than on last year’s model and barely different from the Natural color profile."

In their review they mentioned that each mode is accurate to their profile(srgb and p3 respectively). Now they mentioning its barely different. They didn't even mention the deviation delta of colors in the review. And worse they removed the display accuracy part from their published review now.
