Everybody can do the hardware, but nobody seems to care enough to optimize the software. Look at Lenovo's foldable Windows laptop. It's super glitchy that the user experience is just bad. Even Google doesn't care. Only Samsung doing its best with their own implementations, while other OEMs just do some half-hearted job. This is why when Apple entered a new segment, consumers often think they were the pioneer, despite not the case in reality. It's usually because Apple would ensure the software is at least be pleasant to use for the general consumers, and that people would enjoy using the device.

And none of them are serious about it, they are basically just a side proof of concept product while they are still focusing on their regular form factors.                         Of course. Been saying this for years. Apple would do foldable iPads or even Macbook first. iPhone is their main cash cow, they won't risk doing something out of the ordinary. Besides, all current iPhones are IP67/68. There's no way they would release a new iPhone without IP68 rating. Meanwhile, no such thing for an iPad, so it's a perfect testbed for a large screen foldable.

                                    Knowing Apple they will adopt a new concept or feature pretty late, make it better, calling it "new and first" and the product sells like hot cakes no matter the price. Whether you like it or not, I think that when Apple comes with a foldable, amd then I mean a foldable phone, it turns out that a foldable will become mainstream even when it'sbeen on the market for many years already.
