Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 first renders reveal similar design

28 February 2024
The corners of the unfolded device are slightly sharper.

Ah man. So much for a brand new camera design. Samsung needs to start upping their game when it comes to foldables.

A small improvement, but I need to see full specs to form an opinion
    I will wait

Anonymous, 28 Feb 2024Tablet has metal back. Phone does not. and also - the back side is quite easy with magsafe like iphone but the other side is the external display which can't be put any magnet.

phone prices are crazy nowadays, and so do people who expect folding phone to be price at the same price as normal slab phone, not to mention people who demand the price is cheaper than normal flagship slab phone - that would be madness in current condition.

Chinese phone cost less because mostly they used what been successful from others.
But I also realized that Sammy probably spent lot more on marketing campaign too.
Dont forget they also have bigger outlet for servicing and offer software update longer than most Chinese brand which also costful too.
At the end is down to customers choice, if it's too expensive just buy the cheaper options.
Oppo or Oneplus current fold phone is pretty good too

Both hover under 1400 euro now, so there is that.

I am not counting sales, that would make Samsung look cheaper which it is not without sales.

Inner screen alone adds $150-160 to BoM. What they save in cameras and battery is minimum.
I would be ultra surprised if samsung spends less than $1000 to make Fold 5.

This adds weight. Something they are all trying to reduce.
Fold 5 is 253g. Too heavy already. Imagine if it goes near 300g.

They pretty much had this market to themselves and they're gonna blow it by sticking with this form factor. I actually love the overall design and I had z folds 2, 3 and 4 but I traded to an s24 ultra as I got sick of the outer screen. It's what I interacted with like 75% of the time and was so limiting. If I was to go back to a foldable I'd definitely take the next gen one plus open over this.

At worst Samsung will end up like LG, making everything they did before, but stepping out of the phone market.

LG did innovate though and that wasn't enough, so that alone is not enough to stay alive or win from Samsung.

What is enough is be better, and make people buy your product instead.

But what that magical thing is I don't know, because it seems that regural rules how to win don't fully apply when one is up against Samsung.

I do hope they wake up, if anybody has the money and resources to innovate, it is them but they got too lazy lately.

Another useless big nearly square screen+super tall, narrow and thick folding. These companies want to sell flip and fold instead of just one small folding phone. They can just make 90×90 fold to 180×90, making a small phone in my pocket that can be a usable tablet when needed.
PS. S24U is already 80mm wide but the top is too high out of reach for my hand while 15 pro is easy handing but to small screen area.

FOR REAL ?? SIMILAR DESIGN AS LAST YEAR??

Seriously this is just a running gag at this point
Soon Samsung's foldables are gonna be looked at like antiques from another era.

0odle-noodle, 28 Feb 2024This is a great take, but completely falls apart when you a... moreLook at other foldables. Do they have the battery capacity that I'm talking about? Yes. What about the cameras? The OnePlus Open and its sister device, the Oppo Find N3, both do. If Samsung made their Fold device larger, the increase in battery capacity would happen. If they don't, it's still somewhat acceptable, but they literally even were going to use stacked battery tech on the S24 series but then backed out of doing so. They could've easily had a total battery capacity of 5000mAh with that before having to do anything else. Point is, a device of this calibre has already been done, with only the 120mm periscope not already on any pre-existing foldable phone, and that can still be done regardless.
