potato4k, 18 Mar 2024Have you actually used TouchWiz and OneUI? Totally differen... moreI've used TouchWiz since Android ICS era (and now I still use Samsung too btw, still hates the new control center lol), that's why I said that. Sure, I can say that OneUI feels more bugless than most of my experience with TouchWiz, and also looks more modern. But icon looks apart, most of the fundamental UX-style are not really different. Just like how they keep retaining the Android 4.x-style app drawer, even though majority of company (OnePlus, Poco, any company that uses Stock Android for example) already uses the scrollable app drawer that introduced in Android 5.
I also won't say that HyperOS is a extremely different change compared to MIUI. Heck, I can say that I still hate many new things that they introduced, like "forcing" us to use the separate notification panel and control center on newer models, or iOS-like charging animation (less distractive ofc, but very not original I should said). But I haven't felt any bugs while using it, maybe I'm lucky? (I'm using Xiaomi 12 Lite btw).

404, 17 Mar 2024So does One UI. One UI is just TouchWiz/Samsung Experience ... moreHave you actually used TouchWiz and OneUI? Totally different experience, and OneUi is a vast improvements and overhaul in everything..
Meanwhile, HyperOS doesn’t even look different than MiUI, and like I mentioned, Xiaomi didn’t even care fixing basic UI glitches. All the so called improvements are just marketing talk with no concrete way to prove it. All reviewers are simply rehashing the same marketing material.

Cool interface and superb support. You won't keep your phone 7 years anyway. But it gives your 7 year of support.

meha, 16 Mar 2024"MIUI 14 - 3.5GB reduction in size, now 9GB."
... moreIt's still lighter than One UI Core after all. Yes, the Core one. I'm not even talking about the normal version yet.
Or lighter than a clean installation of 32-bit version of Windows 7, if you want a better comparison.

Aosp source code is pu... moreBack when I owned Samsung Galaxy Note 8, I installed some basic file manager app from the Store. This app also tracked what files were created. Guess what? My phone took screenshots of my home page, at least once a month, since I found the corresponding image files using said app. Why would a phone make screenshots of your home page if not to send that, for some reason, to someone other than you?
I can only imagine what else, hidden, did Samsung send.
Let us be real. Google is free, Wikipedia is free, it is easy to educate yourself about things which are not even a secret, like the Five Eyes program. Do you really think Google, Apple etc., or China, Russia, the UK and so on, can be divided into "good" and "bad" when it comes to this? They all spy on you with ease, if they so choose. There is no privacy the moment you have obtained a smartphone, or a phone for that matter.

Anonymous, 16 Mar 2024Buy Samsung and stop complaining. We will all end with a Samsung... Or an IP. A PC... Or a mac. Coke or Pepsi. Rep or dem. That's how we've leaped into the 20's, a duality world. If that means anything.
At least no more China bs spyi expensive fa.ked stuff. First androids where those cheapos redmis, so cool and cheap and tiny and clean with 6x SD, crazy for that time where alternative was hundreds of cash. But now... Omg. What a sh't. Tried to root Xiaomi , a real pain in ze ass. Horrible experience there also.

Aosp source code is publically available
Google services, that's another story. Still, many options to disable a lot if you deep dive
But iPhone, even you disable, they still send data.
Xiaomi the worse of the worse of the worse. They put banner ads inside apps, it's hard-coded. Services processes of privacy leaking deeply tight into the os and call home 24h. Last try was last summer, no doubt it's even worse now. I read long time ago from Xiaomi ceo interview it's part of their business model. Hands down...
Then ads is different than privacy, but very related, there one use the other.
