10 March 2024
This is the first true mid-ranger from the company and is priced accordingly, but it still brings some of the advanced features of its pricier sibling.

[deleted post]So a sony phone then?

Tranquillow, 10 Mar 2024"there are better midrangers" only hold up where ... moreI'd get this over a pixel 6a/7a, only point at all to get a 7a is it does wireless charging (if you care about that) and has a usb 3.2 port if you need quicker wired data transfer, plus tri band wifi too, rest is an easy nothing phone 2a win (and the 2a is cheaper in the UK atleast).

Im going to buy a phone this summer and I was waiting for this phone
        But it did not deliver
        Plastic? Seriously?
        Even NP1 had aluminum frames
        Design is a bit ugly
A55 will be a better buy
Apparently they have better ter gpu now thanks to AMD
And aluminum frame and glass back and samsung’s tried and true OS
Who knows maybe pixel 8a will be better or a iphone se 2024

ThatOneWeabo, 10 Mar 2024newer midrangers have dropped the audio and sd card anyways... moreProbably because the usb port on your phone can do the same job just as well/say better and most companies supply you with the equipment needed to do this (say dongle for headphones which is what i do and works perfectly well/get improved sound using the tidal app vs Bt/wireless).

Its just smarter and cheaper to go out and by a portable ssd or just invest a tiny bit in to cloud storage which generally come with a multitude of benefits on top (i pay about £12 a year for 100gb, dont need more than that) but i get deals in all sorts of markets like flights/food/travel etc, features before everyone else for the cloud storage/i get full pixel editing suite on google photos AND 24/7 live support (and its the same price as a 128gb, slower and less reliable MicroSD card with no features/add ons).

Honestly its an incredibly good deal for its release price even in the UK, if i was in the market for a new, cheap but very useable and powerful for price device it would be a contender.

i personally prefer to just go for a used/year or 2 old flagship in perfect condition sort of thing now, generally just has the overall niceties that allows you to hold on to a device a year or 2 longer and not feel the urge to upgrade and all for relatively/the same pricing as mid rangers (having the likes of quad channel ram, better/custom ISP, better intergrated gpu, better overall cam quality/features etc).

"there are better midrangers" only hold up where Pixels are sold which is not where i live so... this seems like the next best thing

I really like the phone, the reason mainly no advertisement

I understand that some people really enjoy the (lack of) features that a new android version brings, but if your phone is already working nicely and is secure, than it shouldn't be a dealbreaker

It's okay, but missing in the US and following all the same trends Apple started: No headphone jack and MicroSD slot, big storage markups, etc. The only unique thing is the glyph interface, negated by how ugly the phone is imo.

GAMIR3DH, 10 Mar 2024You can always buy a old flagship. Is way better than this.Exactly. I might be upgrading my phone because I somehow broke the mechanism to replace the SIM on my current phone and my phone plan is being discontinued. I'm eyeing a used Pixel 7 Pro for $350 right now.

                        No because it's genuinely hideous

It wouldn't be my first choice. At this range, I would expect a device with at least 4 performance cores to ensure better longevity in future software. I would take the Pixel 7a anytime.

If you are obsessed with the little new features then sure. Get a brand new midrange from Google i suppose, they always get the first updates

The lack of a 3.5mm jack and a microSD slot might be "appropriate" on a flagship phone, but in this price bracket doesn't make sense.

Also, they're seriously advertising the RAM with "boost"?! This should be illegal

It looks okay, but I’ve got the 2 anyways.

It looks fine, efficent chipset and fast enough, OS looks like nothing else, unbloated. I like form factor and camera of 7a but from what i read there is a lot of problems and hate with google phones, I never tried one....
