Never thought I'd see the day where stubborn Japanese culture would actually change their minds
Sony at that too
2k in flagships aren't even saturated and shiny went 4K.. lol
Right now 1.5k is the surging 📈 trend that going on with displays
And even player like honour is wise and going for dual stack OLED
And all Sony has is a bunch of angry commentators defending them on GSMARENA that aren't buying any of their smartphones

And GSMArena got the rumours from whom? Don't tell me they got from Weibo/sumahodigest. That's site are trash and scam. Every year they predicted Xperia will have the best spec ever but the reality it isn't.

At last! That 21:9 screen ratio is what made me leave Sony. Also abandoning 4K will improve autonomy and make the final product cheaper. I hope the rumor comes true.

19,5:9 is such a weird aspect ratio. All the numbers should be integer. If they want to revise the ratio, either choose 20:9, or 18:9 (ideally, because it’s essentially two squares „glued“ together).

Good if true. Also, if Sony releases the phones in January or February, it may have a chance.

What the hell 21:9 was excellent for gaming and reading content not to mention movies it was part of the reason I switched to sony dropping 4k seems logical but 19.5:9 really? Well at least it doesn't have notch.

As a current owner of 21:9 Xperia myself: Good. It was an interesting concept but 19.5:9 is just superior in pretty much every single way aside from watching movies.
4K on 6.5" screen was always a meme to begin with imo.

So, it'll be a stereotype casual phone like others out there. After 7 inch Zenfone and non 4k non tall aspect ratio xperia it will be full scale absurd uniformity and and sameness repeatition.

DarlingYext, 15 Mar 2024"Especially as many midrange phones now use 1220p.&quo... moreNo it’s the best. Crosses 450ppi retina threshold (=300ppi on LCD because of PenTile) but requires less GPU than 1440p.

Anders, 15 Mar 2024Hopefully it's 1440p, rather than dropping all the way... moreThis is literally what the rumors say here!! They have not said what resolution they will go to, only that they may leave the 4k panel... they will surely go to QHD PLUS

My main issue with Sony phones(i actually almost bought Xperia 5 v) is the very bad software support.
It is just not good enough when other brands give 4 years of android updates and 5 years of security updates for their flagships!

Hopefully it's 1440p, rather than dropping all the way down to 1080p which is unacceptable on a flagship phone. Especially as many midrange phones now use 1220p.
I'd be very happy to see them change the tall aspect ratio though to a more conventional one.
