    Mobilemaster, 16 Mar 2024All I know is that Sharp is planning to make some new facto... moreLet's not forget that Japanese brands have ODM products too, especially the flip phones were outsourced to Chinese/Taiwanese ODMs Arima and Compal for Sanyo and Panasonic, and smartphones manufactured by Tinno, branded under Panasonic, Sharp, Kyocera etc under supervision from TCL. Also, Xperias are designed and manufactured by Foxconn, similar to Sharp.

    It's extremely difficult nowadays to find an in-house product. Ironically, they're are expensive as in-house products, even if it's theoretically cheaper to manufacture under ODMs.

              None of these changes are going to fix the 40% throttling issues :P Sony's never managed to tame any dragon after the 865. Truth be told they've struggled before too, otherwise there would be no camera shutdowns, yellowed screens or seals coming apart...

                It would be time, for such a great brand like sony to give up 4k and tall aspect ration. And thin the bezzels.
                They were once the best and i loved having one. And cant wait to have japanese phone again. Please do it

I don't understand when people say you can't notice it on a small display, for me there's a very obvious distinction compared to 1080p and even 1440p (not so much with the 1 series since it's only 1644p compared to the 2160p Premium series).

                      And They can extend a 720p or 480p panel out to some ridiculous aspect ratio and call it 4K. And that's why I call it marketing lie. The only real 4K standard is 3840*2160 which can be extended in any direction and become 4K+. All the rest wannabe4K resolutions are not true standards since they can be averything in the range of 1-2159 lines.
                      If we are so free in negating vertical resolution then why not to negate horisontal resolution? It gives even more marketing possibilities. We could call the resolution 1080 x 2520 of SONY 10 V ... QHD. It's only 40pixels less than true QHD (2560).

                                  Those are two of the reasons I own a Sony. I was considering to upgrade due to the camera, but if these rumours turn out to be true I don't think it'd be worth it. The tall screen is amazing and 4k makes everything crystal crispy clear (I'm running a mod to use 4k all of the time).

                                    I recognize Sony trying somewhat to differentiate themselves from phones that arent Samsung or Apple and are beloved by partisan creative professionals but they still rest on their laurels and it's true only PS5 and their B2B products are of much significance these days

                                      Finally some sanity hit Sony. They should come out of their bubble and see the market demand instead of sticking to their own mentality. We need good battery life, non-over heating, good camera, snappy, 3.5mm jack, and notification LED along with charger in the box.

                                        Sony need more costumization in software, maybe Sony can add stuff like:
                                        Dual apps, call recording, 5 years of OS updates + security.
                                        Multiple audio sources played, own Sony album app + "AI" stuff like Pixel, customized quick actions, seamless switching between Photo Pro and Video Pro, Digital zoom on the front camera , improved TOF, more manual settings in basic photo app (yes!).

                                        Improve photos with main app. It's a shame that the photography company like Sony loses vs Samsung, Apple, but also Vivo, Oppo and Honor! 99% of people when they think about the best camera phone - they don't think about Sony.

                                        Ps And ofc notification LED + fixed the fingerprint issues.
