Apple thinks 128GB is "lots of storage"

19 March 2024
A new video ad for the iPhone 15 is all about storing photos on your device.

Sort by:

That's because they only take photos in jpg and video in HD. Don't use the phone as a tool, but only a gadget.

And it's not 128GB you get, it's more like 100GB.

Not trying to defend Apple though, since 128GB on such price is still unacceptable. I'm just saying that install Genshin on 64GB phone is possible though, let alone 128GB.

It's not even enough for the apps I want to install. 128GB in 2024...Well... "640K ought to be enough for anyone", huh?

So what you mean is someone who bought a 4k capable phone should just downgrade to 720p videos? There's so many things taking up space now and with apps creating CACHED files, the user would soon be screwed with their personal files.

Apple will definately think like that, as they want you to pay up for iCloud service for a lifetime. Why simply give you extra Physical storage and loose money which we can make for a lifetime???

They should have made the iPhone 16 256GB base and then released this ad. 128GB has been base since iPhone 13 and I even changed phones because it wasn’t enough for me anymore.

'Apple's iPhone 15 starts at 128GB of built-in storage, a chunk of which is of course taken up by iOS and the preinstalled apps. In 2024, you may think that's not really sufficient, or at least not a lot. But Apple begs to differ.'

Talking points of blind expandable memory haters. This 128gb is the new 16gb of the old days. I bet before EOL, 128gb users won't be able to install Genshin Impact.

Tech advances but the consumer mind goes backwards. Imagine micromanaging your storage in these era of high tech advancements.

For me its enough. But I pay too much for a phone. Should be 512GB and not less.

128 gigs is a lot. You don't need more (but if you do, use cloud storage, nononono, we won't allow you to have the microsd slot). You dont need the headphone jack either, buy bt headphones. But you all need the AI-enhanced photos from your camera. Phone market this days. And it's not only Apple to blame

Depends on the user. For me 128 GB is plenty and I only got a 256 GB Galaxy S23 for the UFS 4.0 speeds.

                            lol They're so scummy.

And before iPhone 15, they also thought less than 800 battery cycles was "lots".
The most evil scammer among smartphone manufacturers.

For starters! level 128GB is fine, don't be a maximalist. In the mid-range and high-end, of course, there CANNOT be 128GB 🤷🏻‍♂️.
And the reason for the lack of space is the messengers and social networks, the operating system to a much lesser extent.

And Apple is right. The target audience is the decadent normie who desperately wants a Apple branded device so they're not gonna store much.

Apple sold their macbook air lineup starting with 128gb storage not before long ago. I am not surprised they would think 128gb is a lot.

When microSD card is so affordable and 128GB card cost are US $15, what Apple done is pure exploitation of customer by charging so much for phone with 128GB phone. This applies to phones that do not come with microSD slot.
