It's the reason I always like LG and Sony phones for keeping the microSD card slot on their flagship phones. Even at this time of writing, I have filled up 75% of my Kingston 512GB microSD card with mostly offline music and videos, particularly from Spotify, YouTube, and Netflix. I used to do console emulation on my current phone, which is an LG V50, but 6GB RAM starts showing its strain despite the still relatively powerful Snapdragon 855 SoC.

    Based on the comments here i think this about right. For example iOS automaticly encoding videos and photos so they take lot less space than they normally would and you still get great quality.

    Also iOS just takes little bit over 3GB while Android can take something between 5-30GB etc. Based on Google how much space it takes vary a lot. It depends how much bloatware companies have added.

That is coming close to $1/GB which is easily more than 5x the cost of NAND. Easy profit.

                        Besides a thousand photos isn't even that much at current age, some people easily take that much photos in a single trip.

                              I agree, they're optimize with the apps and stuff. On my android phone as my backup phone, it's never enough cuz it eats ups a lot of space.

                                The sheep sending their personal files to Big Tech clouds. Fools who gave up their SD cards and any remaining privacy they had plus they let these companies have another hand in their pocket for that cloud storage. They like anti-consumer mistreatment.

                                  thats a lot, maybe for computer illiterate old people who only use storage to take some pictures with mobile camera and nothing else, but then again such people really need a cheapest phone only. apple has always been a brand for clueless people who overpay for brand.

                                        Just the other day I took a 19 minutes that filled 29GB in my phone, and that's on 200 Mbps bitrate. Granted, it will be taken out the phone for editing and then resized properly. But Apple advertises ProRes on their phones, and you can record internally at 737 Mbps. 20 minutes of video would fill up the the storage if phone was empty. And they brought the minimum storage of the Pro model to 256GB, but I think they genuinely did it just to avoid bad press, and not because of they want their users to have a somewhat usable storage amount. If it was up to them they would just keep milking their fans for 100$ for 128GB of extra storage 🙃
