Apple thinks 128GB is "lots of storage"

A new video ad for the iPhone 15 is all about storing photos on your device.

Actually, they have rather large excuse, their device with a 60hz display is the best selling model, not just of their own line up, but best selling model overall in the world.

Had the likes of the 12R, G84 etc been outselling them, and all signs point to that being because of the lack of HRR, then you might have a point.

Had coworker with full Google Photos and what a monumental pain in the rear it was to get photos from it and how Google Photos kept CONSTANTLY showing me the "awesome" way to upgrade Google Photos storage. No, I just wanted to get photos from it and delete them all. In the end I had to issue a data takeout to download the stupid photos, then delete some so it stopped whining and then I just turned the stupid service of for the coworker because I know they'll never be able to fix it themselves next time.

3rd party services like pCloud are WAY better and way easier to manage as you can easily control the data and you aren't constantly kept being ransomed by them to upgrade and making it incredibly hard to free up that space so they stop pushing you to upgrade. It's all intentional and it sucks.

-Trix-, 19 Mar 2024"Is 128GB really enough to store all your photos?"... moreNot everyone wants to store tons of their photos and videos on someone else's computer.

Zuzuz, 19 Mar 2024Apple is thinking that we don't need chargers, cables ... moreThey don't give you the charger to be "eco-friendly". It's all a scam to get people to buy their chargers. I can buy a 18W charger from some place like eBay and be happy with that. 20 bucks for 18W, to hell with that.

128GB is sufficient if you don't use your camera heavily or store videos/media/whatnot. What isn't cool is charging 800 bucks for no telephoto, only 60hz and for the name.

Apple has 0 excuses to use 60hz in 2024. Phones half the price like OnePlus 12R, Moto G84, A53/A54 and A55 and even A25 5G use 120hz and their panels are OLED, too. Greedy, anti-customer, "eco-friendly" company.

200 dollars for extra 8GB RAM is outrageous.
Allow Epic their game on your app stores again. Petty ass.
And how is eco-friendly to switch to USB-C on Macs before anything was said. Now everyone threw out their A cables and bought C cables. Hopefully not from you

This is to buy their iCloud subscription.

Most people don't want to use cloud. And yes, there IS a need for more storage. But of course, someone that just clicks photos or browses socials on their flagship devices will find even 128 gb to be adequate. But someone like me that has several full HD movies, music, games etc amounting to at least 100 GB and lot more stuff on my phone will find 128 GB to be severely weak in comparison to my phone with a 256 internal and 320 total

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2024It is enough on Windows too if you do the same stuff.Only if people start using any other browser but Chrome

Same on Android, people complain on both systems that 8GB RAM is not enough, but use a memory hog like Chrome.

Well they do everything in their possibilities to force customers to buys and pays for a cloud storage.
Garbage movement by Apple but whathewer.

Zuzuz, 19 Mar 2024Apple is thinking that we don't need chargers, cables ... moreYou do get the cable (Sony is the only one not including that)

Asus and Honor started removing the brick, Samsung and Google don't give you one too.

Matter of time before Motorola and Xiaomi stop giving you one too.

The whole market itself is the issue, not a specific brand.

I think some a few people might get by with 128GB. I feel most not only take photos, but videos which take a lot more space. The ad takes away from thinking about videos, apps, documents to download, and photos and videos friends and family send us. As another comment said below, the idea is to look at options like icloud services. I don't own am iPhone, I don't know how much those services are.
