Apple thinks 128GB is "lots of storage"

A new video ad for the iPhone 15 is all about storing photos on your device.

Sort by:

"Is 128GB really enough to store all your photos?"

It definitely is, i have 6563 photos and 91 videos and it only takes 25,8GB

I have 256GB 15 Pro Max and have 150GB free space. I would have bought 128GB model if available. I still have all kind of crap stored in my phone, because have so much free space.

I seriously don't understand where people need so much space nowdays when almost everything is in cloud. Hardly only thing which takes lot of space is if you want to store all your videos 4K and keep them in your phone.

For me it is enough. Bye.

yeah, kinda reminds me of their "8GBs on Mac is just as powerful as 16GBs on Windows!" statement

I mean, it kind of makes sense if all you do is casually browse social media semi-regularly.

Hilarious Apple. Meanwhile Base storage for Android's have been steadily increasing. This year minimum is 512GB. I personally have a 1TB. Try having full of 1080p and 4k videos, tons of photos, and graphically intensive games. Stupidity in apple. trying to brainwash their sheep into thinking 128GB is enough. Sure. Back in 2014 maybe. Joke of a company.

I know people with Android phones who have needed assistance even getting onto social media, funny but the simple act of buying an Android didn’t magically turn these people into tech savvy power users 🤔

In a regular sense, no 128gb is not a lot

But for a lot of people it is more than enough, and most people don't change their camera settings on either Android or iOS so the phones (to my annoyance when someone close asks me to solve it) use the efficient codecs on both (which work fine on a phone, but not on all devices)

Anyhow, Apple is not the only one with the "starts at 128gb" nonesense, Samsung does it on most of their non S and Z series too, same with Google (heck, Pixel 7a doesn't even come in 256gb in most places because google concluded you could use the cloud)

Not to defend iPhones, compared to OneUI the file size of iOS is smaller.

But going back to the point, 128gb is not a lot, but plenty for most.

For me 256gb is the bottom limit due to local music and other non photo files I have on my phone, also for work (I don't make a lot of pictures)

Invetor, 19 Mar 2024> "When the actual iPeople aren't complaining,... moreWhat counts as enough is subjective, and down to the use habits of each individual. Personally it isn’t for me, and yes at the prices Apple ask, I think 256gb would be a better starting point. But there are many out there who get by just fine as is. Many on here seem to think people are too stupid to decide for themselves, I’d rather give people the benefit of assuming they’ll make the right choice for their individual needs.

I am still using iPad mini 2, RAM 1Gb/32Gb. Although it may work unsmoothly sometime, 1/32 is enough for Disney+ (No Netflix, as it requires newer iOS), Omron/health app, CCTV app, iMessage, Numbers, Pages and Chrome.
Do not use it for saving photos/videos/games.

Of course it's enough because most iPhone users only do social media. 🙃🙃

Gotta give Apple credit though. Their storage management system is something else. I have never run out of space in my 64GB iPhone X last year.

Photos immediately get backed up to iCloud and promptly removed from my device, some apps I forgot to use got removed from my device, with an option to restore the data whenever I please, and Apple Music prunes songs I don't care about.

Everything is centred around selling iCloud storage. Giving unusable entry level storage amounts and ridiculously high SSD upgrade prices. iPad still on 64GB in 2024!

Actually the ad can be seen as follows.

                                        1. Man takes photos.
                                        2. Man realise phone no more space.
                                        3. Man decided to delete some photos.
                                        4. Photos tell man not to delete..
                                        5. Apple provide "solution".. subscribe to the 12TB iCloud Plan.

But not to be too obvious... so say iPhone 15.
