It really boils down to if the OEM has features that cycle storage to maintain fluidity and resist ageing long term

I still use to play demanding games and it doesn't lag. Even the famous jerryrig everything has a note 10 plus which is out of update but still uses it. Now if it lagged would he still be with it? Stop with the foolish comments please your hilarious. Pick up an mi 11 ultra and tell me if it lags. If you think only iPhones have consistency in this age, then your in the 937AD.

Even if you're not using the phone for 7 years, the resale value would be higher after the same period of time. So if you think about it, the price of S24 is actually cheaper than S23 after all.

you had the chance to talk with the VP of Samsung and you're telling me you asked the OBVIOUS??!

Why not ask, "is there a justifiable reason as to why you're currently limiting the older flagships of some new features aside from obvious market segmentation and greediness?"

They also don't care about camera app. Just compare S23U stock vs S23U gcam.
Difference is soo big, even with small x10 sensor.
BTW, they don't care about design, like Apple, just sale almost same phone.

If only those phones can lasts as long as those updates. Too many green line issues, collapsed buttons, battery bloating, cracked screens, and some other issues within just 2 years of phone introduction is the biggest cons for having too long of an update. If Samsung or other brands wants the phone to lasts as long then I'd rather they be easily repairable too. iPhones tho having better hardware longevity then most is notorious for being irreparable by normal means.

Longer OS support on the Galaxy flagship would make even more sense if Samsung actually keep them around longer, like if they would still officially sell S24 even when the S26 is released, with a price drop obviously, especially the vanilla flagship since they never release a smaller phone in the midrange price segment.

                                    Excellent

I think this is a great strategy from Samsung covering several points.
First, simply matching Google's own support for the Pixel. Samsung is Google's closest OEM, so whatever Google is doing, Samsung would knew and/or get first dip. So going 7 Yeats is probably an easy feat and also give Samsung the cred over any other OEMs.

Second, Android has matured. Try list the difference between Android 14, 13, and 12. You probably won't be able to. This means each iterations gets more incremental and easier to develop, and going back to point one, why not as it gives Samsung the cred and good for marketing as well.

Last but not least, enterprise use. Longer term explicit support is desirable for enterprise. Samsung might be trying to solidify their enterprise market further.

In any case, this is good for consumers. People buying older S24 a few years from now would be happy as the device would still be getting security patches for years. Thus is safer for everyone.

The Chinese OEMs won't be able to match this anytime soon. They don't have the budget nor margins to do so.

And then there's Apple. This will put pressure to Apple to support their devices longer instead of dropping them off for no reason (A10 iPhone 7 stops at iOS15, while A10 iPad gets iPadOS 17). Apple can no longer make fun of Android.
