                  I meaaan..isn't china like really strict in its regulations and bans? Why does nobody seem to bat an eye at those? It seems we have accepted that as an "it is what it is" moment.
                  That being said most companies/apps do collect our data so it unfair to say the least, but im personally indifferent about it.

                    Sure Website client is less functional than an App. But nevertheless the "same data collection" can still continue, fans will still consume whatever media they wish.

                    Then you have to play wack a moe with VPN services and so on. Or police people and show them that their phone browser is not using TikTok or face a fine etc etc.

                            TikTok is being targeted simply because it's Chinese and successful and the US wants to remove it as competition.

                                    I dont watch tiktok, shorts, and reels, so i dont really care about the ban, but i cannot deny that tiktok is very important especially in asia. Nearly 70 percent of people here use tiktok intensively, and tiktok shop is a good way to purchase things at very cheap price.

Google and facebook do not want to comply with Chinese data protection laws and so do not operate in China. They were never banned by the Chinese government. They can operate in China along with Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, Oracle, KFC, Coca Cola and a whole number of US companies that are operating in China and complying with Chinese laws if they comply with Chinese laws. Their business model of harvesting and selling user data are not compatible with Chinese data protection laws.
