CargoJoe, 03 May 2024Is it weird that I like the old UI better? I mean for the a... moreThere would be no point as such small sensors with plastic lenses can't resolve any more than 30, and that's being generous. Yes with stacked sensors you lose minimal noise performance, but either way with a higher resolution you'd soon see the limitation is the lens not the sensor. Also see snapdragon 8 gen 1. If you remove thermal constraints that thing rips... impossible in a fanless phone though. Same here. If you remove optical limitations 48mp would be awesome... useless in a plastic lens phone though.

Sony makes great camera sensors for phones but that's about it. Their phones are always lagging way behind the competition in terms of camera optimizations like stabilization, denoising, and ai

cozxta, 03 May 2024Sony isn't making better front cameras than other punc... moreMate, your statements are contradictory. If it's niche, the parts are going to cost more for the paper specs, the R&D will need to be accounted for more in the pricing, and it'll just generally be more expensive per unit to deliver. Man I wish people knew more about what it took to get a product to their doors... then we wouldn't have dumb comments like this saying how because samsung is cheaper selling 10 million units that sony is overpriced selling 50 thousand.

Limerain, 03 May 2024Hopefully they'll fix the thermals this time so it doe... moreLikely not, as the thermal limitation is their choice of making it behave like a professional tool of not dropping frames is part of what makes Xperia unique and excellent. We can hope for greater efficiency though.

man I love coming to Sony news threads, it will always have the most amount of comments because it's just filled with haters and some fanboys arguing it out over a goddamn phone. This is exactly why I left a long time ago because I can't be bothered arguing with dumb shoots lmao

Anonymous, 03 May 2024Looks fantastic! Sony is accelerating their development and... moreThey sure did this time, going for a conventional display so they can make use of LTPO, the longer zoom range on the zoom camera (hope there's also a sensor upgrade with it too), the MUCH better UI on the camera app making things hopefully as simple as a Samsung or Xiaomi phone and the usual generational upgrades like the 8 Gen 3.
Only thing I hope they bring is better software support. At least three years would be far better than the current bottom of the barrel two.

CargoJoe, 03 May 2024Punch hole is for loser who can't build under display ... moreSony isn't making better front cameras than other punch hole screen flagships, no excuse for the bezels in that regard, as the size of the front cam sensor is due to the phone depth, not the size of bezel or whatever.
Non the less, this Sony is a overpriced niche phone and that's about it.
