Speaking of picture quality, my wife has the S24 seem to have more trouble capturing detail in low light than my iPhone 13 Pro. This isn't saying much of course, but the S24 Ultra is another monster altogether.
I guess it's mostly due to the Chinese government making moves to limit the popularity of the iPhone and boosting their own brands?

taurus-555, 04 May 2024my S24+ completely destroys even the I15 pro max camera ... moreHahahaha I hate dxomark, but even they put the S24 ultra way behind the iphone 15 pro/max. Your s24+, with its 1.5 size 5 year old sensor is utter trash compared to literally any other flagship on the market and is even for dxo at the 40th place.

The only major reason I purchase iphones is due to the long term product support. My latest purchase was a base iPhone 14 model, and I purchased a pixel 7 as a secondary phone after that. I don't own stocks in any phone company, fangurlism sickens me so the bottom-line is that I only care about my own wallet.
If android keeps upping the game with providing longer term support periods, I doubt I will purchase another iPhone again since to be honest, their walled garden is a load of steaming manure and I actually feel the pinch with interoperability issues when I'm trying to transfer/sync stuff with my windows desktops.
The fancy apple chips (which come in the overpriced shells) are always going to be gimped by half baked iOS (ditto bout the iPadOS) so I don't need showboating super uber duper Lmaobench scores when hardware from half a decade ago work perfectly fine to run the required tasks that is expected of a modern day phone.

Anonymous, 03 May 2024Huawei releases the 7nm domestic-made Kirin 9000S in 2023.
... moreI won't use the word "reward". I'll rather use "support". That was a company that was almost crippled by US Nationalism via the US ban. The company wowed everyone with a different comeback. China has created an ecosystem to shut out the rest of the world with their in-house tech - People leaving apple for Chinese made phones, people leaving Tesla for their in-house EVs.
Apple on the other hand isn't helping their market. There is a saying that "the eyes eats first before the mouth". What it means here is that, people are attracted to looks first before talking about the internals of the phone, yet apple has stuck to the same "perfect design" for the past 5 years.
Samsung has joined them. They better prepare for decline in phone sales. I'm using a Xiaomi in the UK not because I want to, but because of not GMS in Huawei. If I can find my way around all that, I'll be moving solely to Huawei.
I support innovation I can see with my eyes not the ones I only read on paper while holding a new phone that looks exactly like my last year's one 🥲

Reality..., 03 May 2024Agreed on this as well 👍🏻. And I'd like to add that... moreHilarious. Apple is literally the company caught with a zero click exploit (operation triangulation) that the media mysteriously all but ignored, the government and apple didn't comment either. Totally naive.

[deleted post]S24/S24+ - wouldn't say either iPhone or Samsung is "better", each has it pros and cons :D
As I shared in another thread, I recently brought my 1st "fatshit", the Samsung S24 for ~S$600 (US$450) with a free Earbud2 Pro and 1TB SSD. PS: The whole package cost ~S$1800 (US$1300) if purchased separately. Really good value for money :)

This isn't a big deal, Apple is still making more money than all the Android OEM's combined.
I'm an Android user and prefer Android but I can see why people buy iPhone and will continue to:
1. Superior cameras and video even on cheapest models
2. Fantastic walk in service at Apple store
3. Tons of available accessories
4. Easy to use OS
5. Status
6. iMessage
7. Ecosystem
8. Multi year OS updates
9. Powerful CPU that plays all games even on cheapest model
10. Feeling of privacy
For me I really want an affordable budget Android with premium cameras. I'm tired of rubbish cameras on budget Android.
The only real option is Samsung but the A35 and A55 have rubbish cameras. For the money they want I can find a used S21 or S22 with way better everything.
But I will have to import that, have scratches on it and have to put in a new battery and pay import duties.
So it's not worth it.
Meanwhile I can buy locally an iPhone 13 128GB for €619. The A55 will cost me €469 for 128GB. That's just €150 more for the iPhone and there are way more accessories available for it.
The iPhone will take WAY better photos and videos, comparable to the latest flagships, while the Samsung will take crap photos like any €200 cheap Chinese phone.
If you're not an Android fan you'll definitely choose the iPhone. Even I am considering it even though I HATE iOS.
Just because I am tired of rubbish photos.
I love having my headphone jack, SD card, dual SIM and Android but this constant disappointment with photo quality and OS updates is wearing me down...
I blame the Android OEM's and Google for not offering better quality in the midrange. It's all junk now with the same CPU's year after year and the same hardware and the same crappy cameras. The same crappy OS updates cycles, the lack of accessories, lack of repair services etc. There has been no progress at all.
Nothing have tried with 2a to bring a better experience but their cameras are also pretty bad despite all the updates. Any camera can take nice daylight photos, that's easy, but it's the tricky lighting conditions where it falls apart and the shaky, stuttery video. That applies to all budget Androids.
In short you have to spend €750 and above to get an S23 just to get a good camera Vs €619 for an iPhone 13 which will get more OS updates, have a better CPU and better resale value.
It's sad. But that's why Apple is rich and the others struggling.

Isn't this normal? iPhone sales always decline after the initial release in September of the previous year. Add on that Apple didn't do any new color refresh this year, this is completely normal and expected. It's the typical cycle of iPhone sales number. Nothing to see here.
