      No, I don't care about software support. I doubt anyone cares about software support. I think that's hey concern you (the media) have invented, simply to have something to talk about and have another way to compare and contrast manufacturers. No no one gives a shit about having 7 years of OS updates lol. Name one single person who is still using a galaxy S8 and expecting it to be updated. I can't even remember the last time I saw an S8 or even an S10 for that matter. 3 years of updates will be just fine for almost everyone.

People have negative comments for these phones because these phones are not meant for the majority, nor will they ever be. Sony will never listen to the majority of people because they do not want to nor do they have to.

            Or course the changes are incremental, there's no significant progress in the field of digital camera sensors for years now, perhaps more than a decade; let alone optics, lenses were amazing 50+ years ago, of course there's zero progress from 2023 to 2024. A bit of software "AI" gimmickry (pretty much pure marketing with zero actual value) is all we're getting now.

            Who sets everything up manually for every shot and why? Real cameras, when used by real photographers, are in a "semi-automatic" mode for 99,9 % of the shots. They just set the things that are of relevance for the given situation and/or the desired output. In reference to the aperture, shutter speed and ISO; white balance and the rest comes on top and depending on the genre, one could very well have a real good career as a photographer without ever changing them from defaults. Just the same, the "Pro mode" in Xperias comes in handy once in a blue moon with "challenging" conditions, a regular snapshot works just as well as on any other phone, with the huge benefit of an actual shutter button and less overprocessing destroying a photo.

            I'm surprised every time when I see people raving about this or that phone and what great photos it produces, I go look at some samples, and it's just same old, barely a notch better that it was 10 years ago.

            If someone manages to convince you to replace a two year old 1000+ $ phone with a new one because of its "incredibly improved" camera, props to their marketing department, they certainly deserve a nice big bonus.

              Theres nothing better on those phones. Even when I want transfer Video samples from Alpha 7sm3... on Xperia I can transfer (via Creator'sApp) samples even 10-bit 200mbps. iPhone 14Pro Max - is limited to 8-bit and 100mbps soo for me is usless.
              JOLED goes to JD (Japan). JD at now has the most advance OLED production technology in the world - eLEAP OLED. But first samples in 2025 (2024 laptop panels).

                Lol, I thought it was today.

                  In order to understand the issue with current Sony phones, you have to understand what happens beyond the spec sheet. First of all, every display from mkI to the mkIV was made by JOLED, and most importantly laminated by them. JOLED has unfortunately filed for bankrupcy and this is why the mkV series has issues with ridiculous rainbow banding.
                  Second, you need to understand the Japanese way of life and their philosophy, to be able to understand their approach to these products - spec sheet doesn't matter as long as it looks nice and helps you in your daily life. The ten series is designed for the every day worker to suit all the needs in a fairly affordable package - not to compete with other Chinese brands on the market. Unfortunately, this approach has completely disconnected Sony from the actual consumer base because they do not make the phones to boost sales or please the buyer, they make them because they believe that their phones should be the way they are. Does this leave the consumer base wanting - yes. Do I want Sony phones to be great again - hell yes. Unfortunately, within the current state of affairs, we will never get theproduct we trully want because the company will never really pay attention to us.

They are wide, camera bump thick, heavy and unbalanced compared to Xperia 1. People crap on Sony flagship without even using it. First thing people comment when I pass them my 1 is how light it is.

                                "more than 2 OS updates seems like a must." Indeed. Two years would be somewhat understandable for a 100-euro device, and that's a reach as well. My phone gets 4 and one additional year of security patches, which should be the lowest possible update promise.

People always complain why the photos taken with Sony are not so sharp? Well because they take natural photos not saturated ones. Japanese prefers natural colors( it is not only Sony, Sharp makes similar photos). Their display is also of very good quality. Their soft is simple, not full of bloatware.
                                  What I don't like is the charging speed. I would like to see Sony use a 50 Watts charger, that would satisfy my needs.

                                      I have long supported the last Japanese laptop brand in Europe.
                                      I got the Xperia 1 V in khaki green so I'd get the 1 VI in platinum Silver. I hope soon in June. I'm very impatient.
                                      I wonder from the rumors if the new Pro will be canceled as well as the Ace in Japan? What if the Xperia name will disappear in 2025??
