Weekly poll: will you buy a Sony Xperia 1 VI or Xperia 10 VI?

19 May 2024
The 1 VI may look mostly the same, but it mixes up the Xperia formula quite significantly. The 10 VI brings upgrades of its own and a lower price to boot.

I would have considered it if Sony would promise to fix the telephoto camera picture quality, it is far to blurry for my liking, an AI deblurring and noise reduction would make wonders, but that's probably never going to happen...

Invetor, 20 May 2024Nope. 3+4 years of software updates is not good enough f... moreoh I forgot to talk about the Xperia 10.

I have no idea why Sony keeps making this line of phones. The mid-range segment is already saturated with a lot of decent options.

Maybe it's a decent phone that gets the job done. Maybe it caters to business people? idk

It's not available in my region. So it's pointless for me to consider this phone. But that's true for the Xperia 1 as well. It's s just that the bigger brother has more appeal to it.

      Nope.

3+4 years of software updates is not good enough for me (especially at that price). And the optical zoom upto 7.1x is not something I can't live without.

I appreciate the good battery life, clean software and the flat display. But see, S24/S24+ and 1+12 exist.

And even the Zenfone is cheaper. Yes, the Zenfone isn't as "ultra" as the Xperia, Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi, but it's good enough for most people. (I won't be buying any of those tbh. I'd get a samsung for repairability).

All in all, the Xperia 1 reamins as a niche to me (which I suppose is what Sony wants it to be afterall).

I already ordered the 1VI with the bundle. With the headphones it is not particularly expensive and the reviews are good. But most of all, it is stylish.

REDROBOT, 20 May 2024Don't read first use it and experience it..then u can talk Have you used it? Please don't be so bossy. It's wonderful that there's a phone gearded toward audiophiles. I read some mixed reviews and simply shared what I read. I'm not about to buy something like that just so that I can post comments about it on a tech blog. If it were available in a store, I could test it out. What I do expect, of course, are reviews about is lackluster camera. I suspect that their claim that the camera "works" is to encourage reviewers to focus on its audio capabilities. If you have used this please tell us about it. I'm actually looking for a phone with decent audio quality.

I suspect that it would wind up being a bulky average dap and you'd have to carry another phone with you for phone calls but I could be wrong. I like the idea of it.

Strawhat, 20 May 2024RIP Sony. Even in US the availability is scarce.Sony isn't going anywhere. They own record labels, film studios, etc. Yet another multinational corporation. Also, they recently signed a long term contract with Qualcomm so they'll likely continue to manufacture phones but we won't be able to buy them and use them here.

Yep, that weeb-based audio brand now make a phone. It has msd slot and 2 jackies! If you care about it. And it has a reasonable price at 350 usd (equivalent). The const is: don't expect for a monstrous performance, great camera ( moondroop said "it's not good but it works", lol), and of course bazillion years of os update. And the last thing, you must import it yourself from china.

It's really quite useful for those who aren't attached to their phone at all times. You can see when you've gotten a message or missed a call, you can tell when it's charged. It doesn't sound like a big deal but it is as useful a feature as slight camera improvements

Yes for X1 VI, but sad to say that need to pay a high price for a flagship phone with 3.5mm headphone jack and Micro SD card support.

justasmile, 20 May 2024But 4k? Worth the battery life sacrifice? Definitely not.Correct, but going from 4K to 1080p is an absolute joke.

Answering the poll, I would definitely buy the 1 VI as my next phone when needed if it were less expensive and available in the U.S.
