Weekly poll: will you buy a Sony Xperia 1 VI or Xperia 10 VI?

19 May 2024
The 1 VI may look mostly the same, but it mixes up the Xperia formula quite significantly. The 10 VI brings upgrades of its own and a lower price to boot.

Regarding cameras, how often do people take photos while just going about their day? A good photo, unless you're lucky, requires time and patience. In a lot of ways, it was better with film. You had a limited amount you could take. You valued each shot, took your time, paying attention to lighting, depth of field, whether you wanted soft focus, etc. Also, film looks better. Doesn't anyone use these things to receive and make phone calls? I do expect Apple to remove that function soon.

I can simply put a 1tb card in another phone that has expandable memory and access it. With other phones, even if I spent a lot and got one with more than 128 g internal storage, I still need to waste time copying things on to it, drastically reducing what I can have easy access to. I expect to be insulted, told that I'm old or need to grow up, that I need to accept current times, pay for the "cloud", that only fan boys who want to be awkward and annoy normal people use sd slots, etc. Something along those lines.

        Just tell a better option on the midrange segment that is compact, IP68 with microSD card slot, 3.5mm jack and that doesn't cost > 400€.

                Lesd costs be ause less time and resiurces used to design internals in way these 2 things could fit.
                Still got more expensive.

                Cheaper screen is countered by more expensive SoC and new periscope.
                Only innocent readers here ( let's use innocent to avoid saying the most appropriated adjective) think they would cut price.
                Fun part is many here expected €1000 , new screen is surely not €300 less than previous.

                  " The cost of SM8750 wafer has increased, and the price of the chip set will definitely increase significantly. The wave of sub-series flagships in the 3K price range at the end of the year will have to think about the configuration. Another company may cancel the Big Cup Pro this generation."

                  Thanks to all those that demand stronger SoC every year just because of silly games.

                  By the way :

                  855 = $35
                  865= $40
                  8g2 = $160
                  8g3 = between $170 - 200

                    If i would cared about camera i would look for some DSLR or something. Professional photographers can get some decent pictures out of even lower end phones but that requires luck and skill. The clicks for social media that anyways downgrades the picture quality to make the file size smaller will mess up the quality. Also budget phones cameras will do good enough pictures for most for social media clicks.

                    People just think that the better camera compensate their lack of skill on taking pictures cause of the mentality that they are the best and it's always the tool fault that things dont come out good. It's like in games where people lose they will complain that there gamepad had button stuck or something and it's not their fault for being a rookie

I find it too narrow and too small at times but it's wonderful when I put it in my pocket and go out into the day. It's a MOBILE phone. Even it is a bit too tall but a phone isn't a tablet and you don't really need to look at it all day long or watch films on it. I love film. I can't conceive of watching a great classic cinematic work on even a seven inch screen.

The camera obsession has made these things far too pricy. Get a decent inexpensive real camera and you'll find that it not only takes better photos, it's much easier and far more enjoyable to use. Phone reviews are almost exclusively about the camera. It's ridiculous but, of course, these devices aren't designed for those of us who want to use them as phones. They're intended to be used to connect with social media sites and so you need to post photos of yourself and things you're doing in your mundane life. In any case, a photo from a mediocre camera with great framing taken by someone with artistic sensibility is a better photo than a poorly composed image taken with the best camera available.

Audio capabilities at least as good or close to the quad dac LGs which are as good as a midrange DAP but with a much better user interface and no limitation on the amount of "songs" it'll handle. I have a 1.5 TB micro SD card in my LG G8. It reads it fine. Everything is a "song" now. Symphonic moments are "songs". Opera acts are "songs", everything is a song. I think that started with iTunes. Have you read any reviews about the supposedly improved audio quality on the VI? It's sort of a moot point for me because it's not being released here but I'm curious. The snapdragon chip is for hi res Bluetooth but there was some mention of "improved headphone audio circuitry" or something like that.
