Anonymous, 26 May 2024just becaust your phone can take overprocessed fake photos ... moreWe've seen how good the processing is on this wannabe camera phone that's constantly being released

      a) too late (a year after other OEMs started using the same sensors, if not two, also too close to the next-gen SoC release date)
      b) triple the price of the phones it's competing with

My phone's selfie camera is bigger than this crap's telephoto. My phone's telephoto camera is larger than this crap's MAIN camera. My main camera is 1/0.98''. And all 3 of my phones are 5 years ahead in processing when compared to this wannabe camera phone. And yeah, all of them are less than 950e.

      I paid my OP12 570eur, I paid my FX7U 750e, I got X100 Ultra for free but it's 940€ msrp.

            Samsung has used 21:9 before.

            Are they irrelevant too?

Anonymous, 26 May 2024You can simply turn the status bar black and there you go, ... moreBlack bar won't actually be black but just dim, and adding a top bezel with slim chin makes the phone look even more ugly.

Back in 2013, when my Nokia X2-01 was no longer working and I went to the market with my dad to get my first smartphone, I wanted to buy the Xperia Tipo. Given the stupid teenager I was, I got influenced by the sales lady's pitch against that phone and ended up not buying it. I went to another shop and got myself a Nokia Asha 501 (which was lovely too). My desire for a Sony smartphone remained unfulfilled, but no more now.

They don't sell Xperias in my country, but I pre-ordered the 10 VI from Amazon Germany and I couldn't be happier!! I'm excited beyond words and I don't care about the specs and what the general narrative out there is. I was sick of huge slabs with a hole in their forehead.

Bezels, expandable memory, compact form factor and a headphone jack - throw some fine music into the mix, plug in my Sennheiser CX-80S and I'm out for a long, solo walk. Life's good! 😌😌

After so many years, Sony finally found out there is LTPO screen technology, vapor chamber technology and screens that are brighter than 1000 nits.

Still, I am heavily disappointed. I expected a QHD resolution screen but Sony went down to FHD. The main cam has a small f/1.9 aperture. The telephoto camera has a tiny 1/3.5" sensor but wants to offer up to 7x continuous zoom. The ultra-wide remains with a small 1/2.5" sensor too.
At least the main camera received a decent sensor, it took Sony until 2023 to throw away that crap 12mp 1/1.7" sensor.

All in all, the hardware is disappointing concerning the fact that Sony claims to make the best and most professional camera phones.

The new camera app is a welcome change, who would have the time to set all the settings manually on that tiny 21:9 screen to get the perfect shot? The eagle would fly away until the cameraman gets his messy phone ready, not to mention there were three different camera apps.

Moreover, they release their phones shortly before other premium manufacturers move to the next generation, their software support was laughable until now (let's hope this changes now, I would be okay with 3 OS updates) and their prices are too high for what they offer.

Maybe I am too harsh but that is how I see it. Sony offers everything in one pack but the realisation is below the level other brands.

Some Anonymous Prson, 26 May 2024Even if I could afford it and was willing to spend so much ... moreSony isn't official here either I had to import it however it was much cheaper than when they launched. Their built like tanks but if they do brake repairing becomes hard due to no spare parts. My main reason for getting it was the screen (without notches) my reason for leaving Samsung was when they started cutting into the screen and ditching the SD slot. Now if Samsung made a modernized version of the Note 9 I'd buy it immediately but i don't see that happening

RAM management got ultra bad since iOS14.

I just update because apps stop working on older versions, there is no choice. While even android 6 can use 99,9% of apps.

Kevin, 26 May 2024I don't think anyone should offer more than 1 android ... moreModern snapdragon 8 series chips are capable of running at least 3-4 years of OS updates without having a noticable effect however it's a whole different thing when it comes to low end chips, poor optimization of OS updates makes it even worse anything above 7 years is just marketing with current hardware at least

There should be more phones designed for people who prefer the way that phones used to be before they started removing useful user friendly features and doing strange things like that annoying notch. Another thing. I prefer to look at a large screen but I am one of those very strange people who carries a phone in my pocket and they've become too large to do that comfortably. I've almost been tempted to get a "dumb" phone or "smart" watch for portability but those are frustrating in other ways.
