I'm curious about the improved audio quality they claim.

MindTheGap, 26 May 2024Weird. People complains when Sony only gives us 3 OS update... moreYeah Vivo x100 Ultra gives same 3 years and starts at €830. Not €1300-1400. Even if you discount the headphones it is still 300+ more and no more 4k or unique screen ratio. And Vivo is focusing on camera the same category where Sony tries focus on(different approach and pictures but same category, you are not buying either for gaming). I will buy an Xperia 1, don't know which yet but at this price with those specs I would expect it to have the same support as Samsung or local apps for example for music a Walkman style app or be made in Japan with highest level of working conditions supporting locals not outsourced to a different country for cheaper labour.

Even though I was first intimidated by the Sony's tall screen, I actually found the narrow width to be more useful in one-handed operation.

Kevin, 26 May 2024I don't think anyone should offer more than 1 android ... moreTotally agree. I always have to resort to custom ROM whenever the new OS update slows down my phone. Two to three OS update is still more than enough to most people, especially those who always buy and return phones through carriers.

I'm still happy with my current Xperia 1 iv, so I'll wait until next year to see if I'd upgrade.

ikek, 26 May 2024Seems to me like Sony wants to close doors on their mobile ... moreYeah, but if Sony phones availability worldwide is weak, you can only get Sharp phones on Japan. I wanted a Sharp Aquos sense8, but it just seems impossible to get it on Europe. At least I can order an Xperia and get it on my country, although they aren't officially sold here.

More is not always better. New android versions are made for latest hardware. What is the point of having latest android version on a 6 yo hardware? People would just complain how slow it is.

On the other hand it is good to provide security updates for a long time.

I applaud Sony for maintaining the Mk5's price tag for this year's Mk6. Even Samsung had to raise the price for the Galaxy S24 Ultra, including here in Malaysia. However, I still maintain that having a 19.5:9 screen on the Xperia 1 is a mistake since it tends to be the preferred choice for mobile cinematography among Sony owners. It should be the Xperia 10 that gets the wider screen since it's just an average smartphone for an average consumer.

Also, I just thought of something about the Xperia 10: As of May 2024, Qualcomm still hasn't released any new Snapdragon 6 series SoC. Sony might do the same trick as last year's Mk5 for next year's Mk7 by keeping the same current SoC, but it would've been ageing by the time it was released. At some point, the Xperia 10 has to switch to a more powerful Snapdragon 7 series SoC. 7s Gen 2 won't cut since it's identical to 6 Gen 1 apart from maximum RAM.

Dug out my old Sony Xperia XZ2 last week and it is still going strong after 6 years.

Conclusion _ Sony Japan still relevant after more than 20 years in cellular mobile bussiness. Pioneering innovation and top class engineering design for profesional user.

The issue with the 10 us that the the 10 V had such good battery life and power management. This one is noticeably worse so it feels like a downgrade.

The xperia phones are quite pricey in general and could do with a price cut
