Qualcomm quietly unveils the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset

08 June 2024
It appears to be similar to the Snapdragon 695 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 and not a successor to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.

Their Exynos 2400 on S24 and S24+ isn't any better than the 8 Gen 3 on S24U, which makes people think twice before buying it. And the heating issue that presents on Exynos 1280 and 1380 are somewhat still presents on the Galaxy A25 and A35. Even the A34 from last year which uses Mediatek Dimensity 1080 (which is still sold by the Samsung official store in my country, but now the price is even cheaper than A25) still performs better than A25 and comparable to a more expensive A35, makes it a better choice.
Looking at how Apple monopolizes the 3nm manufacturing from TSMC, I really do hope that Samsung can keeps improving their efficiency, so Qualcomm (and maybe Mediatek) can switch to Samsung soon, temporary or not.

Darth Caesium, 08 Jun 2024I personally defend neither. 6 Gen 1 isn't good enough... moreI mean, I don't really expect much from this company, and yeah as you said, the 6 Gen 1 is not any better than 695, and also vice versa. I would be just fine if they re-released the 6 Gen 1 but with higher CPU clockspeed with the new naming and TSMC manufacturing. That literally will fixes problems from both chipsets.

Exynos 1480 for example. Their next processors will be unbeatable with their current rate of progress. I would like to see more OEMs use Exynos ...it is better than mediatek and the closest to qualcom when doing anything other than gaming ( recording raw video, rendering e.t.c)

So... It seems like the SD 6s Gen 3 is basically an overclocked SD 695 with a new wireless modem? And this is probably going to be put in phoned by Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, may be also Samsung that sell for like Euro 300+ at release.

Yeah. I think I might go for the Moto G34 after-all.

what If you are an oem and bought tons of 695 so that you get the cheapest price per piece but you weren't able to sell as many phones to clear your inventory in time
now what will you do now that chip is 2~3 year old now ?
you can't market and sell a phone with such old chip name while the average customer is demanding something new
so you ask the chip maker to re-release this same chip with new name so that oems can again sell & clear their inventory

if you observe closely Qualcomm is actually making only 2 new chips (or occasionally 3)from scratch in recent years while the rest of the chips are just rebrands of older chips with minor clock and cache tweaks
                        this year too they made only 3 new chips : 8 gen 3 ,8s/7+ gen 3 & 7 gen 3
