Qualcomm quietly unveils the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset

08 June 2024
It appears to be similar to the Snapdragon 695 and Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 and not a successor to the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.

Dang it, qualcomm naming sense is so stupid & confusing. They keep renaming the older chips.

Except their top tier chip, all their mid to low end chip were to misled people with their stupid renaming schemes.

Even mediatek is a lot better with their naming even though they also keep renaming their older chip.

The ones that's easier to follow are intel & apple>amd>unisoc & mediatek > huawei hisilicon > qualcomm & samsung exynos

Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series are good. Anything else from them is just waste of money and time.

suddenly everyone became apple in 2024...

PureOS, 08 Jun 2024Who cares. Mtk sells more than 300 milion in a year.People talk so much nonsense, specially fanboys. Bad mouthing Mediatek for their lower market share as if they weren't drowning in money anyway. And I say this even when I'd pick a Snapdragon chipset every day.

Wait ..... you mean to tell me that snapdragon 6s gen 3 won't have 4k recording?
What the heck? No matter how S it is. You'd expect 2 gens newer, to have better performance than it's non S. Name sake 2 generations ago. I mean .... I remember having nice quality 4K recording with snapdragon 636 and 660. Now the manufacturers are just skimping down features, to make you buy the higher end ones. Even though otherwise you'd be fine with the step done ones. Which is very sad.

Qualcomm's naming scheme, quality and pricing has got to the point now where it's hard to take the company seriously. It was once the go-to choice for geeks and OEMs, but I think MediaTek deserves the love now.

Low-end Snapdragon chips are terrible and the 7 Gen 3 is only alright, whereas the 7+ Gen 2 was great.

It's time that Qualcomm started treating its customers with the respect they deserve. The "s" moniker doesn't need to exist, and is just there to screw the customer. 6 Gen 3 should've been made on TSMC N4; had a performance equivalent to the Dimensity 7200; 1080p@60fps and 4K@30fps video support; and had a better ISP. 6 Gen 3 doesn't exist, and Qualcomm instead treats it as a 4 Gen x platform with a scant few releases while the actual 4 Gen x platform is literally 95% the same thing.

Extreme scam from qualcomm and mediatek.
Both increase frequency of 2 or all cores, rename SoC and help Oems to sell as new.

                                        How about a 6g2 with 2 x A720@2.3GHz + 6 x A520@1.9GHz instead of this ?
