EU to charge Apple under Digital Markets Act, impose a fine of up to $50 million per day

15 June 2024
It all has to do with the "core technology fee" it charges developers who don't want to distribute their apps through the App Store.

Glad to hear that fines and sanctions are hurting more than a slap on a wrist like big corpo receives in the usa.

So, Apple makes $1B a day? But they can barely make their phones usable. Good for EU.

      Good.
Hopefully they will be joined by Facebook shortly after, as the investigation into the BS they pulled with Instagram's "either let us harvest your data or pay 14€/month for Instagram" should be concluding shortly.

Apple's implementation of alternatives app store & payment gateway can make one believe if they have complied to EU rules or FU rules😂

Fun fact: With Apple's current net worth, if they made zero profit, they could be charged this fine daily for the next 178 years before going bankrupt!

This is very pleasant news to hear about. I'm so happy to hear this!

Apple: good hardware but iOS policies suck.

And in my country, Apple has a 30% markup over Samsung (comparing iPhone to S series).

There are people who defended this practice.

Apple: Forced to offer alternative payment options, so developers don't have to pay them 30%

Also Apple: Charges "Core Technology Fee"

EU law is trying to be chad against Apple's monopoly

Make apple bankrupt. Too good news for me.
