Relaunching a chip that wasn't great even upon its initial introduction three years ago.

They are like Mediatek right now. recycling old chipsets, these manufacturers are getting lazy these days. pweh. Why not recycle old SD 8xx and 8genx series and make it the new 6 series. That would be acceptable.

Gsmarena is right, S is weak, then you have standard and plus is enhanced. Makes you rethink the 7s Gen 2. It sounds good but it's not a proper 7 chipset. It's mildly better than the 6 gen 1. I have no idea why the 7 Gen 1 or standard 7 Gen 2 were not used widely. They should be cheap given their age but still no one wants to make a phone with them. Feels like manufacturers profit margins and sales centre around the 6 range of chips.

      So...

Brands like Sony, they still think Snapdragon series 6 represents a mid-range offering, so they will totally ignore the fact every mid-ranger has performance of a seri

I was confused right from the get-go. This should be a Snapdragon 400 series SoC.

Now we need to hope that Sony doesn't treat it as an upgrade to the SD6G1 even though it's a downgrade.

If 695 had support to HDR10 display, usb C 3.1, ufs3.1 and 4K@30 recording, then it would be perfect SoC to my needs.
Extreme battery endurance + enough power to execute my tasks + these stuff.

            😍

The audacity to call it "Gen 3" when it's actually "Gen 0+".
              Unbelievable.

The mistake with the 695 was putting it in the mid-range.

Anonymous, 15 Jun 2024The one with lumia design has 7sg2. There are few with 4 ... moreMost of these leaks were made up, though Skyline does indeed have a Fabula inspired design and a 7s Gen 2. I expect more phones with their new design language - a while ago they teased one that seemed to have a flat frame and renders on the HMD website show more phones with the Fabula inspired design language (which might be real as one of the other renders on the HMD website looks very similar to the HMD Pulse)

The chipset title is misleading, and therefore, Qualcomm must be sued

SShock, 15 Jun 2024So, 3 more years of Nokia phones, but now all of them with ... moreI think there is a 4 Gen 3 that either became this chip or is just a lower-end 6s Gen 3. Currently unreleased.

Also i'm not sure if HMD will use this. 6s sounds like a chip they would use but they're trying to make slightly more ambitious projects with the new brand (like Skyline with 7s Gen 2 and phones with a new Fabula inspired design language, including said Skyline)

My main gripe with the SD695 is the weak ISP that cant even do 4K video recording, and on top of that, their GPU is pretty old too

One rebrand is alright, considering how many times Mediatek rebranded G99/Dimensity 700.

Dkj195, 15 Jun 2024Isn't that like a Mediatek move? 😂, slight bump in upg... moreExcept this use A78 cores, V9 cores are expensive right now, this is best core you can get under $200.

Isn't that like a Mediatek move? 😂, slight bump in upgrade is meh, i mean nobody should complain much it is your very budget friendly Soc, at least it has some AI integration now, Bring and S series don't expect much change, in fact S is usually a downgrade, as long as it has 5g i think casual daily driver users are fine with it

Qualcomm's intentional confusing naming scheme wins again
