Small battery inside Pro was choice,not lack of space.

Complete disappointment. Was hoping for 6.4 curved display (yes i like curved display, deal with it) and much better chipset. Even the same Snapdragon 7s gen 2 from the Fusion would have been fine but 7G1 is very bad choice.

It's Similar to 855=>855+=>860 with overclocking each time. Same with 865=>865+=>870. Now you will ask proof. Check Red Magic Phones. 8+ Gen 2 is not a naming but everyone uses it to justify 8 Gen 2 OC/AC version. Even Now, 8+ Gen 3 is used for 8 Gen 3 Leading Version which 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy & 4+ Gen 2 is used for 4 Gen 2 Leading Version. Believe it or Not, Your Choice.

...to be completely honest, if this standard-looking nothing special Moto phone is MIL-STD-810H certified, then I feel like most other phones with similar or better build quality should probably be able to be certified too, right? In which case this isn't really a special thing.

The 7 Gen 1 performs pretty similarly to the 7s Gen 2. Just because the 7sG2 is newer doesn't mean it's outright just better.

I don't think so. A quick look at the spec shows the "step back" 7 Gen 1 has a more powerful CPU and GPU than the "newer" 7s Gen 2. After all, the 7s Gen 2 is still a 6 Gen 1 with support for more RAM (up to 16GB RAM to be precise).
