Snapdragon 695 hater, 01 Aug 2024I find it insane that people are still defending Nokia. Thi... moreIt is actually ok, and if their should be a problem will get fixed with new updates. Exageration on small things never helped anybody, but apparently people like to do it, and the fun part? The ones that do it, never actually used a nokia hmd device, which pretty much tells the whole story behind the exagerated claims. I doubt that this battery tests are done properly, their are SO many situations to consider and almost no device is in the same state when beeing tested, to the other devices that's being compared too. Like how was the screen refresh rate setted? 60hz, 120 hz and 144 hz? What was the carrier being used? is the same sim card used in all tests? if yes, can they test an old device and confirm that it got the same battery rate as in their first test? Or is the SiM not that great anymore. Does the carrier hold strong signal at every second in the area they test this devices? Also new units might have some battery drain at the beginning, did they do the test straight on, or did they let the device set itself and cool down? Devices by hmd are known to get better battery after a 2 weeks mark, which is the opposite for devices like oppo and xiaomi and even samsung, they get worse with usage because of the garbage OS and bloatware they all have installed. So you see, an artificial test like this does not tell the whole story, not even half of it.

1989 nothinghappened, 01 Aug 2024How much is the voltage? Is it higher than s24 ultras 3.88v?Not sure if you'll see this since it's replied so late but digging for some numbers iPhone is rated at 17.1wh which is 3.88 volt for 4422mAh. Galaxy 19.01wh, which is 3.80 volt for 5000mah, but if you use something lower like 4855mah then you get 3.92.

Minu, 01 Aug 2024People like you are the reason for e-waste creation, not br... moreThe battery on my G42 didn't need a replacement. The problem was an inefficient hardware with high power usage. I give the very same usage to my Galaxy M15 now and the battery lasts 4-5 days on a single charge. Also, the display looks far better, and the user interface is a lot smoother. The G42 worked well across the board, but it is a very ordinary phone with very rudimentary specs.

maykelbembibre, 01 Aug 2024Nokia is making very uninteresting phones these days. Even ... moreNokia has not done anything.
          It is HMD.

It will be something similar to the Fairphone 5 which also suffered from a below expectations efficiency. But after a few software updates all is fine now. I get easily through the day or even a day and a half on one charge now whereas at the start I only managed 2/3 of a day with moderate to heavy usage. Now, the HMD made Nokia phones where no chart toppers either when it came to power efficiency except for some models. I suppose it also comes from the crappy (I presume off the shelf) stock android launcher they use. Such a basic launcher should be efficient but apparently not really. Never the less, I'm still saving a bit to get this one.

Minu, 01 Aug 2024Compare the rated battery capacities of disassembled phones... moreSure, but which ones specifically? Tell atleast one model that you have seen that advertises 5000 but only gives 4000. Or any that has 15-20% lower than advertised. Atleast one name. Or you are just bullshitting. You expect me to check thousands of phones batteries pics?

              For example, i checked s24 ultra - rated 4855, poco f6 - 4880. Both advertised 5000.

As with most things, it depends on your use cases. I'm sure gsmarena will detail the conditions of the battery test in the full review, including screen brightness and refresh rate settings.

I've been using the Skyline since the 19th July, and it does have a higher than expected standby drain which seems to have improved in the last few days with a number of Google Play System updates.

The phone also does get hot in certain scenarios, especially bugs in the camera app which occassionally see images stuck 'processing' for several minutes.

With all that said, I have barely crept below 50% in my real-world usage, and that was while hiking and using the camera and navigation heavily under direct sunlight. So in practice the battery life is fine unless you are streaming videos for 5+ hours a day.

Having looked at the iFixit teardown of the Skyline, I don't seem to see a dedicated heat sink or cooling chamber which may contribute to higher temps and increased battery drain? Maybe the internal layout for the user-repairability has forced this trade-off?

You can clearly notice there's a significant reduction in the rated capacity, compared to the advertised capacity. This has been the scenario, at least since 2019 across most brands.

This is essentially the reason why people defend the battery capacities of Apple iPhones that aren't that different from what's advertised, that feel "small" to the vocal majority in this website.

I suggest you to do your own research and come to a conclusion. You have the access to an endless library of information at your fingertips, don't you?

maykelbembibre, 01 Aug 2024Nokia is making very uninteresting phones these days. Even ... morePeople like you are the reason for e-waste creation, not brands, if you keep on changing phones every few months for no specific reason. The G42 itself can't be considered "old" for being just a year old, and overall being a better purchase than the M15.

As for the G42, aren't you aware that you can change batteries on your own for the G42? Since it's under warranty (globally mandatory warranty for 2 years minimum), you can get a replacement battery or phone and check with your earlier results. They aren't stupid for implementing end-user reparability on their phones.

I find it insane that people are still defending Nokia. This company is cooked. Look I'm not saying that there are dedicated Lumia fans out there, but the majority of people jast don't buy these phones anymore. People complain about Motorola all the time about updates and bugs and my experience using a Nokia 5.3 was way worse.

People are in the comments section defending the battery who aren't even going to buy this. It's way too overpriced and that battery rating for a 4600 mah is terrible

My six years old Nokia 7 plus still lasts one and a half days of pretty heavy usage and the phone works flawless. The battery has never been replaced!

Nokia is making very uninteresting phones these days. Even my old Nokia G42 with 5000 mAh was badly beaten by my current Galaxy M15. With only 1000 mAh more, it lasts two or three times as the Nokia.

notafanboy, 31 Jul 2024The tests literally prove otherwise, but do tell us more.If a 3000mAh battery lasted 2-3 days with my usage on my beloved Nokia 8, how is that impossible on a larger battery inside a phone from the same company?

The results could've been significantly better, if they kept it long enough to adapt to usage patterns.

If a 4600mAh battery seems that small, how could I manage 2-3 days on a 3000mAh battery in my Nokia 8, with a 1440p QLED display?

It drained quickly within the first month of use, but later got optimized well to the point that it lasts as much as an average 6000mAh battery.

Also HMD's current UI is more or less the same as the UI on Sharp phones, unlike the barebones stock android on their Nokia counterparts.
