Edward Coventry, 01 Aug 2024You can't compare SD cards to cloud storage. What'... moreThis man would happily give up his ability to use harddrives on other devices because of the ads from cloud storage which cannot be accessed in low internet areas

MicroSD Cards are still relevant because 5g reception is not strong every place to get good speed & during train ( specifically long distance ) travel tower switched repeatedly or many times out of coverage area which keep videos on eternal buffering, its always better to download media & store it on microsd card, since we can just change it once it gets slow due too many rewrite cycles, we cannot do that with internal storage.

Edward Coventry, 01 Aug 2024You can't compare SD cards to cloud storage. What'... moreNo, you can compare micro sd cards to cloud. Why don't you focus on the reasoning for the users?

Why most of the users uses cloud storages? In order to save space! Not everyone is going for 1tb as they charge quite a buck for that model.

I'd prefer micro sd. I don't want to store my stuff on the cloud. If I don't have internet access then wham I'm supposed to do?

I also have my own music archive. The players are not playing any song which is located on the cloud.

The brands are simply keeping all the specs and increasing the price of a phone quite high from 256gb version to 512gb. The jump from 512 to 1024 is even more.

If they put micro sd and do a research, they'll realize that most of the people are going for 256 model and adding micro sd to it. You don't even need to directly record on micro sd. Just keep your old photos, songs and other documents.

                Easy to take it out.
Easy to transfer it into another tool.
                Cheap to purchase.
It can last long and this is good for the environment as well.

Those clouds storages are not running in another planet. Tehir consumption and heat dissipation is quite high.

So, the question is, why you people don't demand it? Instead you choose to go after the those who demand. Even if you don't use it, what's the problem with having an additional feature there?

                Questions, questions...

What's outdated is your local storage being on a card that pops in and out of your phone when they sell phones with 1tb internal storage. It was right to cry about lack of SD card back when phones were 64gb but to keep it up now shows you can't change your opinion when the situation has changed.

Until now, only SanDisk made a mass-produced 1TB microSD card. It'd be interesting to pit it against Samsung's solution.
