MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SoC to have 30% better single-core CPU performance vs. 9300

09 August 2024
It's also 35% more efficient, so expect improvements all-round.

If it's 35% efficient at 30% more performance then it's a clear winner.
If it's 35% efficient at same performance of last gen, then it's probably a fine chip.

can't say I was surprised. looking to it's recent achievements it's very expected from MediaTek. I just hope they would keep it up until Huawei and SMIC follow up.

Being used to the product, in the production of the nothing 2a they explicitly said they had to hire people that know how to work with mediatek as many of their engineers never worked with them before

Anonymous, 09 Aug 2024Mediatek fanboys gonna tell you community sees better phone... moreThats only part of the story

You can get some insight from when nothing did their chipset reveal video

On gsmarena's article " Nothing phone (2a) confirmed to pack custom dimensity 7200 pro chipset"

They literally said "they hired many specialists that have worked with mediatek before some of the engineers never worked with mediatek before" in the benchmark section of the video

This is a more balanced understanding Vs OEM just chose what's better if snapdragon is ubiquitous especially in the flagship space the skillset will lean towards that product

Now imagine you have a team and your supply chain like that you'd have to hire more people and restructure your product line staff , contracts

Right now qualcomm has exclusivity to arm on PC and mediatek can't join but I'd bet some money there are business relationship consequences with orders to Qualcomm

I remember Samsung getting "mad" because the iPhone wasn't delivering on the sales expected for the panels

At my work place they ONLY use dell branded laptops, is it because dell is the best??? I don't think so

Alpt of business decision are far more ingrained that just picking better businesses don't act like consumers where they just choose "better" loans deals partnerships matter in the decision

Even tensynos has more share elin Premium segment (above $600, despite xiaomi considers above $300 as premium already) compared to mediatek

Then all OEMs must be stupid or something as they are all launching their PRO version of flagships with the more expensive Snapdragon.

DeepIn2U, 09 Aug 2024I have and the article doesn't tell us much at all. ... moreYou are trying to make yourself sound smart. Clock speed and connection? You are talking about a processor's clock speed, right?

Numbers of transistors? People hardly talk about the billion amounts of transistors when talking about processors. Tens of years ago, yup the world did hype a lot about transistor counts. I'm not saying transistors count dont matter, but its just too complex to talk about. Unless you expect Gsmarena to post articles on microelectronics engineering instead of news about phones.

Pathways shortened? Bandwidth widened? Come on man. Its nanometer technology we are talking about here. My point is the same, it's too complex and you expect such complexity to be elaborated in a news article about a new CPU coming out?

That 30% is clearly a comparison figure. Comparing to what? Read the article dude.

I'm so sorry I didnt mean to offend you in any way. I just feel annoyed and felt there's a need for me to reply this. I couldnt help it.

The default multiple exposures are why ppl claim iPhone is " best" for video ( reason iPhone lacks 4k@120, it would need at least 240fps to achieve)

                        2) There are phones with HLG, HDR10+ or dolby vision recording.

This is just excuse from phone makers to charge more and claim AI needs this.
Any task you ask S24u to do, the S21U can do too.

Little secret for you. 🤫 don't tell people.
                        SD855 was $35, SD865 was $40.
                        Upcoming 8g4 may be $240.

If Huawei's Kirin chipset was not limited, there would definitely be a powerful chipset in the market today, but unfortunately, this challenge will not be held at the moment.

I'm interested in the release of the Dimensity 9400 chips but I'm actually more interested in Geekerwan's coverage lol, their videos fulfill the itch in me for in depth analysis. Sad that phones need to be taken apart just to access overclocking/power limiting numbers accurately.

Brands don't give us LOG videos, they don't use a lot of different exposures to make HDR videos/don't feel confident with their work so they put SDR as the default. I want there to be a time when HDR is the default because there's no way the HDR mode should be inferior to the SDR mode.

Besides, phones have power but don't have the necessary cooling to allow you to do more tasks. I just want efficient chips so that I can have a less hot phone when I'm pushing it.
