Google, you can go home with this charging speed and chip. This phone is a failure.

They changed the aspect ratio to 20:9? The 19.5:9 was the sweet spot between wide enough and screen real estate and no bigger bezels. I can't believe they'd change that. It's specifically why I'd chose a Pixel for that. Now it's no different than the Chinese phones 🤦🏻‍♂️

I like the advances in cell technology as much as the next person. However I begin to wonder when a company like Google make the phone, makes the search engine, stores your emails, other data and has AI sorting technology is privacy a thing of the past.

I just found a sample image of the Pixel 9 Pro's periscope camera at The Verge. It seems that it has a new lens. The focal length is now 17.91mm instead of 18.0mm. That's actually worse because it means that you get slightly fewer pixels per object and also slightly less light per object per exposure time (due to a slightly smaller effective lens diameter, 6.40mm instead of 6.43mm).

Not compact at all and far too heavy and chunky for me. I've had a phone like this with the Essential PH1 which was actually lighter and much shorter but still hated it ergonomically. Struggling to replace my pixel 5 which has the perfect form factor for me. I'd gladly sacrifice battery, camera and performance for a comfortable form factor.

Gorilla Glass Victus 2 is not premium its old

PanRT, 13 Aug 2024Pixel 9 Pro vs Galaxy S24FE Who win? Pixel easy.On price too I think 😬

I stopped watching after about 10-15 minutes. Should have been a drinking game every time he said the word "AI". I think in less than 20 minutes, he said AI over two dozen times! ;)

                  Very disappointing camera improvements.
It seems that there is no true 8k video option, the specs don't mention any hardware improvements for the tele camera and main camera, but according to Google's blog, the periscope camera has better autofocus (all-pixel autofocus according to leaks) due to a new sensor, but a new lens isn't mentioned (so probably no tele macro), apparently it still uses a 120mm crop from a 110mm camera, it's not clear whether 4k video zoom finally supports the full resolution of the sensor (on my Pixel 7 Pro, I have to record a video in photo mode in order to leverage the full resolution of the sensor when I zoom), there is no evidence that panorama mode finally supports the tele camera and maximum panorama resolution is only 50 megapixel, the ultra wide angle camera captures nearly the same amount of light per exposure time as previously.

"Compact"; 72mm wide. LMAO What a joke.

Phone Critic, 13 Aug 2024Alright are we done ? Google Pixel 10 Google Pixel 10... moreI agreed, 10 is heaven.

How is 6.3 inch compact? I mean 6 inch is also oversized, but at least is a good rounder. I would buy a 6 inch phone, but I would not cross this hard limit.

Anonymous, 13 Aug 2024I like smaller phones, but iPhone 15 (Pro) and S24/S23 are ... moreThat is how this mess started, people got bigger phones even 10 years ago, phones bigger than IPhone or S24.

But nobody cared because we had plenty to pick from smaller devices, now indeed countable on one hand.

Just like charging bricks, 3.5mm and Microsd slot, smaller devices are dying.

A sad fact, I love smaller phones.

TruthSerum, 13 Aug 2024There is no reason to call it 'Compact' @gsmarena... moreI like smaller phones, but iPhone 15 (Pro) and S24/S23 are smaller than both new and old regular Pixel phones.

People seems to forget how large phones were even 5 to 6 years ago, most of them were the size of such S23 or iPhone.

Difference is, back then we had more choice in more compact devices, over half of the phones were larger than such S24, but now such devices are countable on 1 hand (sadly)

Anyhow people forget that, I too forget it for a long time, there was even a time I complained how large my S23 is, then I checked how big my LG G3 was in 2014 and I shut up.

But again, we had more choice in smaller phones back then, the whole problem is lack of that choice nowadays.

Is the Tensor really so bad?

Dometalican, 13 Aug 2024Not gonna lie, that battery with 45W fast charging is makin... moreHell, the Pro phones should at MINIMUM come with 512GB of storage. For a £1,000/$1,000 starting price, anything less is insultingly low.

Calling a ridiculously oversized 6.3" display with bezels "compact" is beyond ridiculous.

Don't be shocked if next year they create a 10 XL.too.

Pixel 9 Pro with an actually good SOC could have been such a sweet phone. Damn you, Google!
