GrapheneOS being an open source project with limited development capabilities means they had to make a choice in what they were gonna support. While they do have all of their requirements listed on their website for eligible devices, they're not gonna be able to support ALL potentially compatible ones.
There's also the advantage of Google not releasing a lot of devices per year, which allows them to better support their currently available line-ups.

That's why GrapheneOS only works in them. If the other phones are cheaper, maybe is because they lack some features they shouldn't.

Doesn't matter what you pick - super cars, luxury phones, top end computers, restaurant grade cookware, AI powered gadgets and other shenanigans that are practically useless for the average Joe's and Jane's daily life. Do you honestly think people acquire them, because they'll utilize their full potential? Nah brother, 90% of high end devices potential end up being wasted into thin air or garbage bin then upgraded due to the powerful marketing influence on tech illiterate consumers.

Im sure most other people in this site also thinks that way. But i don't pay flagship prices, i buy a older model.

Hmm, 13 Aug 2024So have you all not checked prices last 2 years? Inflation?... moreI see your point with inflation and respect your opinion mate, but that's not the real reason Pixels shot up in price. You're ignoring the elephant in the room, the "AI".
They've spent so much cash on Gemini and other projects, they want their investments back by charging consumers more. Who really needs 16GB of ram on their phone for day to day tasks? Only Gemini will require that but users who wont even use it will have to pay extra? Why? Take that ram and Gemini back and reduce the price by £100. Main selling points of past Pixel phones was their flagship camera while undercutting competition in price. That's why it got so popular, at least here in UK.
And it's not that working class can't afford these phones, it's the fact that you don't really get anything worth overpaying for. ✌️

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2024Welp...time to buy an Iphone I guessFor flagship phones, iphone always make sense.
Why would someone pay the same price as a iphone pro max when apple has better+ reliable SOC/hardware, arguably less featured but smoother software, better ecosystem?
Love for android can make people buy Samsung ultra but Pixel???

Hmm, 13 Aug 2024I'm not sure what you are rambling about. Oneplus righ... moreThe One Plus 12 is on sale at €949 in the 16/512 GB version when the Pixel 9 is at €899 in the 12/128 GB version. The One Plus 12 is significantly faster and includes a x3 telephoto lens that the Pixel 9 does not have. The One Plus 12 charges faster. Most Chinese brands offer 4 years of major updates and 5 years of security patches on the high-end. Fast charging does not reduce battery life, as proven by the fact that Realme announces on its website 600 more cycles than the latest iPhones with an 80W charge.

Pixel for 1200€ 256GB is just stupid. Period. Even with reduced price tag for 1100€ is stupid.
Pixel 7 Pro launched at 1000€ with free LTE pixel watch which costs 430€ that time.

Pricing only makes sense , maybe, in the US. Here in Europe not at all. Samsung now has the S24+ at £799 so the same price as base Pixel 9. No brainer the Samsung is a better deal.

In October we will release smartphones with Dimensity 9400 then Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 in November which will have an AnTuTu score multiplied by 3... The price of the Pixels on promotion should be the base price

Welp...time to buy an Iphone I guess

So overpriced. The Pixel 9 Pro which is supposed to be rival to the S24 series cost 200 more for the 512gb config.

Google always shoots itself in the leg, I'm sure in 10-30 years this strategy could pay off. But asking such a premium price for a overheating and slow chipset is a joke.

To be fair, Pixels do make a lot of sense in the US: you get "decent" prices and all features working. Rest of the world, not so much.
