The tri-fold Huawei Mate XT Ultimate is official and boy is it expensive!

10 September 2024
It only has a single 10.2” screen that can fold in two. And the unique tech does come at a price.

I would assume this would be cheaper for them to produce as now it is only a single larger oled panel, especially since most of the R&D cost went to first gen foldables. Maybe I'm wrong, but this is bit extra.

Now THIS is REAL innovation.. unlike other's "intelligence"

I am sure after a few iterations, as the technology improves further, the weight will come down below 250gm, which would be very manageable.

And I agree with you, this is a beautiful piece of engineering, and a pioneer for the next evolution for handheld devices.

Even Tecno has released a foldable phone ahead of Apple. Apple seems to have spent all their time inventing new colours for their iPhones.

FatShady, 10 Sep 2024why do they insist on using old versions snapdragon instead... moreYou must be lost. Huawei phones have Kirin chipsets, not Snapdragon.

At least someone is trying new ideas, given that others have lost all taste for innovation and the only thing that moves them is making shareholders pockets full by giving things like 60hz screens in flagships to consumers cough...cough...

So, here is how real innovation looks like.
Samsung and Apple have a lot to learn and to do.

Or could the z fold even fit 2500mah plus 2500mah in a thick body? Or the pixel? Please keep quiet and give credit when due. This is innovation, no crease, no flex and very premium.

First technology is expensive, but boy would i love to try it just for the love of tech. This is how innovation works.... Unlike that other fruit company

                      "It's official!"

"Here are a bunch of CGI renders of what it might look like".

why do they insist on using old versions snapdragon instead of just using dimensity with a mediatek built in 5g modem, since it's not a murican company, it's not subjected to those monopolistic "laws"

This is a true luxury good and with a price tag to match. Much like the Vertu phones from yesteryears that I used to admire from a distance. Only that I prefer this phone to any Vertu phone.

I waiting for something similar from Samsung but the whole foldable display should be folded inwards to prevent any easy scratches especially when put it into pocket and of course they have to make it with an integrated S-Pen since devices like this (10 inch) are already big and finding 2 cm under the display to insert the pen should be complicated.

Compare it with something comparable, for example a gaming pc that is in the same price range or Apple Vision Pro.
It's overpriced junk that'll be obsolete in 3 years due to x or y or z reasons.
I'm exaggerating a bit but you know what I meant ;)
It's pricy but it's BRAND NEW, new tech always has a cost.

The video advert reminds me of the show Succession. Nice music. James Bond vibes too. Cool. So much more interesting than the 16 pro as. Yawn.

One would think this phone doubles the battery life to 10000mAh because of 3 screens, only to disappoint and gives us a meagre 5600mAh battery, this is a dealbreaker, tell me a good reason why i should buy this over the regular fold with 5000mAh battery. This TRI fold doesn't make sense at all.

This is innovation. Too expensive for most of us but inspired design. Lacking from Apple and Samsung. Nice work in making mobile tech interesting again!
