In my country, with pretty normal price a GPU alone of the caliber PS5 Pro has is alone 550 euro.
A PC would be around 1200 euro excluding peripherals.
I do remember that even 5 years ago you could a very nice PC for 1000 euro, but nowdays that is a long forgotten dream.
Still, the PS5 Pro is overpriced at best, anybody interested in it should get the regular one instead.

For 800€ it'd have had at least an optical disc drive.
This won't get much sales.
Sony should bring a 1TB version with disc drive for 700€ and 600€ without.
This would be a faire deal.

In previous console generations, there was exactly one performance tier that developers would adjust for to hit their fps target, like with the PS3 there were games 720p or 1080p for example. With PS4/XBox One, there were different tiers of resolution, so scaling is still easy. Now there are different tiers of 4K performance? I hope this does not mean that developers will set the games up to run 4K60 on the PS5 Pro and then whatever (for example 20-30 with lag spikes) on the PS5. Like some games released for PS5 running on PS4.

So I've seen a lot of people making fun of Xbox for the last few years, wanting it to die and such. Well this is what it looks like when Sony has monopoly on console market without (meaningful) competition. Now you understand that corporations aren't your friends. PS6 will be 900€. Enjoy.

I game mostly on PC, I have a PS5 for exclusives and same with the Switch.
If I didn't have a PS5 and the other two, I would still rather buy a regular PS5 at 499 euro (my country price) than spending 799 euro for PS5 Pro and 120 euro for blu ray drive.
Because I buy physical games also because they have good sales in my country compared to digital.
This pricing is ridiculous, to put it very kindly.
