The tri-fold Huawei Mate XT next to the Galaxy Z Fold6 really puts things into perspective

IpsDisplay, 14 Sep 2024Maybe because of the laws of physics Maybe engineers ha... moreActually the battery needs no rocket science to do, they most probably split it over two panels and in the third, they inserted the mainboard, antennas, camera, charging port, like this they actually have more space then all smartphones on the market. So please do not come here and tell people that this is still hard to implement, i mean there are headphones batteries that are minuscule and still nothing special.

Doing this with the limitations in the U.S. is insane; imagine how it would be without those limitations! I thought phone companies had stopped innovating until I looked at Huawei.

Imagine what Huawei's innovations will be like after four years! What will they achieve? I believe that six years of Huawei's innovations with foldables will surpass Samsung's.

ShotEm, 14 Sep 2024Which one gets updates for 7 years? Which one has dust prot... moreI trust Huawei to provide reliable software updates with their own operating system. While seven years of updates from Samsung may seem appealing, I do not intend to keep my phone for more than four years. As for dust protection, the Mate XT may lack it, but that reflects their bold experimentation and innovation. They were launched around the same time as the less-than-stellar iPhone 16, indicating that they are clearly pushing boundaries. Not everyone relies on Google apps; personally, I find Harmony OS's Petal Maps and Petal Search to be quite impressive, even though they are still developing. Concerning 5G, it is nice to have, but I would not expect it to be reliable in the near future. Although the Mate XT may not have the most storage space, it still features a substantial 5600 mAh battery. Therefore, while every phone has its trade-offs, Huawei offers a unique combination of features that is worth considering. If I were to get a foldable phone, I would not choose the Huawei, as it seems more like an experiment, and I would not select the Samsung either; I would prefer something like the OnePlus Open.

Anonymous, 14 Sep 2024Huawei is simply the best. Samsung needs serious improvements! samsung will said they don't even care, our sales much better than chinese brand now they become laziness see fold 5 to fold 6 its should be call fold 5 ultra not as 6, as for me i prefer quality rather than good software, some ex samsung user known some issue will happen after update their oneui, mostly can damage your hardware, same as my experience with samsung in the past. Mate XT is good trifold first innovation but i will wait bigger battery and implement front glass like normal foldable.

Anonymous, 14 Sep 2024Because it's innovation.Nope, it's not. It is just a very expensive foldable that's unrepairable like all others and made to be ewaste as soon as something goes bad on it, because repair still costs more then a new foldable from samsung or google or whatever.

They might as well made a panel with needed hardware without the battery, there is like more space then in every device on the market, then put batteries in second and third panel, yeah, is that simple.

Ths is actually just overhyped infos and will get no tracktion passed the "overhypness", as very few people will even consider such device, or need. Especially at that price with an half backed OS and a practicaly ewaste with no real repair options..

Avon B7, 14 Sep 2024Why do flammable and inflammable mean the same? That is lan... moreYou might be right on the fold part. At the end there are three panels, but yeah, somehow sounds wierd, only bending in 2.
Anyway, i still see nothing to brag about here, i really see no reason to put this device on a pedestal. Foldables exist for more then 5 years, doing another hinge does not suddently make it new tech, and thinn phones were also researched and made a long time ago, so this R&D apparently did not work that hard on the implementation, just took the already there info and made it for their device. Also let's not forget that there are not 3 mainboards in the device, so not every panel has something complicated going on... They might have simply put two small batteries in 2 of the 3 panels and on the 3rd the whole "engine", without the battery getting in the way, there is enough space for the mainboard and antennas. As for robustness, i highly doubt this devices will survive when and if jerryrigeverything puts his hands on it. So again, not to much R&D going on.
So then where is the innovation everyone here screems about? Like how samsung does nothing and this brand does bla bla bla? I mean i could not care less about samsung but i can't stop thinking that if this is new tech and innovation that surpasses what samsung did somehow, well then probably making a bendable cable in china also is....

We need innovation and new ideas, not monopoly of 1 brand that is overconfident and takes its customers for granted. Minor improvements are a result of "let's milk this same design as long as we can".
