GrapheneOS simping for Google is embarrassing. Pixels are definitely not more secure than every other manufacturer. Samsung are probably the most secure, they certainly offer the longest security support, even for budget devices.

your private data is worth millions to these big corporations. Better be careful with your private data. Never share it with anyone for free. always ask for millions first. Then share it.

Anonymous, 11 Oct 2024Every phone or every company or every social media collects... moreUm, no. This is why they all take our private data for granted. Because everyone just accepted it. Just look how everyone is willing to just give away all their privacy for all the Google stuff that's "free".
I recommend using DuckDuckGo app and enable app filtering through virtual VPN that runs locally and blocks a lot of trackers and analytics, very likely including Android's default data harvesting. Android also has controls to disable analytics which are of course enabled by default and usually pre-checked and people just click "Continue". Other option are Secure DNS with filtering like Adguard DNS or NextDNS (and many others).
People need to step up and start to care about their privacy even if it looks "insignificant". Corporations prey on ignorance of people, because you have to have some effort to block their data hoarding and most isn't willing to bother, even though it takes very little effort in beginning and that's it.

Every phone or every company or every social media collects your personal information. So unless you are a criminal don't worry at all.

2) Even if we accept the premise that this is fine when a product/service is offered for free, why is this logic being applied to smartphones? These companies charge a pretty penny both for the hardware and the software that comes with them (and Pixels in particular aren't exactly the cheapest Android devices on the market, despite almost always shipping with outdated hardware).

If it were up to Google, they would put 15 seconds ads on every click you do on the Internet before letting you browse to your desired website

It's not a conspiracy theory that phones lasted longer on battery before bc almost no call to home was done.
Symbian was probably the last OS without all that crap on top of it. Android has been rebuilt to serve Google's needs. There's no way AOSP is actually clean of it. And only God knows what iOS has behind the scene.
SailFishOS maybe is the only current clean mobile OS.
Same thing can be said about Chromium and its derivatives. Every single Google product is a venom to its market, and the less people follow and praise Google around, the better it will be for everyone.

This isn't new, for years we all knew that data collecting was going on whether android, ios, windows etc. I think people get scared that the government or other individuals are spying on them 24/7 looking at their every web search. Data collection is done behind the scenes, the info goes to the servers and stays there forever. After a month of news like this the majority of the people don't even care. I do wish google made it easier to delete stored data, sometimes there are many hidden options to delete that unless you click on each option you can't find.
