No surprise, really. I don't want to pay big money for a Sony Xperia 5 V copycat, especially when the Sony still keep both the headphone jack and microSD card slot. Also, iPhone 15 is still a solid phone to have.

And it's hilarious to see older iphones cannibalizing sales of the newer ones. Along with brand new iphone 11 128gb being sold for almost 2x the price of my trash Poco X6 Pro. I wonder what kind of idiot will buy a thing that will be abandoned in 2025.

Anonymous, 25 Oct 2024Who says one has to switch from 12 to 16? And even then the... morePhones have become boring. They are like an appliance. That is good. People want their phone to just work without issue for as long as possible. People here will complain about things like displays or camera layouts but those are not what people care about. They just want to get a phone that is good now and that will stay good for as long as possible. It‘s also why support is continuously expanded. Recent example, 6 years on Galaxy A16, longer than 99% of high end phones would have got 10 years ago. Maybe a decade from now people will use phones for 10 years and get the accompanying support, maybe even for phones less than $1000. It’s like TVs are right now, kept for over a decade (if they are not sucky faulty OLED TVs lol) without a reason to replace. Or like a washing machine or fridge. Appliance. And because it means people spend less and less money per time on that stuff it’s why I see that positive, so it becomes more accessible.

It’s just that 12 is still good but that is not a bad thing, quite the opposite actually. And there are enough people happy with even older iPhone models. Same for high end android. It’s not that the new phones are so bad but that the old phones are so good, and that’s on purpose to keep buyers from switching to another brand. I don’t know what there is to complain really with that.

Jager, 25 Oct 202460hz phone isn't selling well in 2024, who could have ... moreAnd yet it is likely to be among the top 10 best-selling smartphones in 2025, well ahead of the lackluster sales of Scamsung or sub-$800 Droids. Normal people will take an $800 60Hz iPhone over any $500 144Hz Droid.

AppleSung "rich people" specs have been trickling down midrange/budget devices for a long time now. How did they expect to keep getting away with it?

"Kuo: *Pro* and non-Pro iPhone 16 models are facing underwhelming demand"
There, fixed it. Also, they're blaming the lack of AI and expecting the sales to go up a lot when AI kicks in...don't believe that. Yes, probably will sell a bit more but not that much as they're thinking.

Why am I not surprised? Fundamentally, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus are really not that different from the iPhone 12. The 60Hz screen in 2024 doesn't help either. Literally the only things of note about these phones compared to the iPhone 12 are:
•The 48 MP main camera
•Macro on the ultrawide
•The capture button (which is not exciting enough to make a difference — it's a nice-to-have, Quality of Life enhancement but not revolutionary by any means)
•Base storage starts at 128GB instead of 64GB now (hurrah)
That's it. All of the other small changes under the hood really won't convince anyone to change, and even most of these are underwhelming changes. When your phone will be updated for another good 2 years at the very least, literally why would you switch to one of these?

Still dont understand why they making 70 million more phones than is demand.
I really cant and dont understand people who willing to spend 1500 ion a Iphone 15 disguised as Iphone 16.
Or a 1000 for base model and 1300 for plus model of a phone with laughable 60 hz screen only 128GB storage super slow charging speeds and mediocre cameras.

I Just Read, 25 Oct 2024And this affects me how My lack of boo hoo hoo is that t... moreSales affect consumers directly. If products have poor sales, it's very likely that companies will try to improve them because companies want money, and one way to improve sales is the improve the products. If companies are unable to improve sales, they may decide to discontinue the products. Do you know the iPhone mini?

We guys, may be perceiving information improperly: it might have stated "an overwhelming demand" instead, i guess.
What could be the other reason for such an vague information.
I believe, apple is doing pretty much well with their 60Hz 6.1" display and innovative camera system, and (proprietary) os. Don't they?

That 60hz display definitely a huge deal breaker for a $800 phone lol. 120hz is the norm now, you can even get this in a $200 phone.
