No iPhone 16 (or it's garbage anyways) so I went for the second hand market.
No Google Pixel so I buy the Sharp Aquos.
No OnePlus so I go for the Oppo Find after the Oneplus software debacle or The Nothing Phone 2a.
When in doubt, buy a Samsung and get wrecked by Louis Rossmann, company's biggest truth speaking hater.
Or don't buy a phone at all.

WickedS, 01 Nov 2024All the phone companies should ban indonesia. Let them make... moreSure, I'll build it myself and share it to everyone using a term called 'Open Source'.
Google Pixel couldn't reach Indonesia since 2016. Now I've found out why.
IPhone 16 ban makes sense since the '60hz In 2024' debacle that is the iPhone 15. 16 Pro model also affected due to having 0 changes from the 15 pro.

Foxtrot2Novmbr, 01 Nov 2024Not gonna be surprised if Indonesians will resort to buy iP... moreFinally someone who suggests online shipping or blackmarket phone as solution of this ban. NOPE. Thats not how it works.
In indonesia, the IMEI of the phone need to be registered to government, otherwise you can't connect your phone to cellular provider. International tourist were given an exemption, because they only stay in indonesia for short term, and their unregistered phone can only work for maximum 90 days using cellular network.
Anyone include foreign expatriat/student who wants to make any of their imported phone (overseas purchase/blackmarket/ online shopping) works permanently in indonesia, must pay import+custom tax to government, which is about 20%-30% of the price and you still need to show official proof of purchase of the phone.
Thats why blackmarket and online shipping would not work as a way around of this ban policy.

Hemedans, 01 Nov 2024How is it stupid? So it's fine for those companies to ... moreDo you understand economics in any way? The benefit your country gets from the presence of these companies is increased consimer choice, which makes the phone market more competitive and helps to lower prices. Currently, Indonesia's selection in phone brands is rather limited, which has made the phone market rather expensive. By having that law that requires 40% of budget to go to Indonesia, you've made almost everyone leave because it's just too expensive to sell in Indonesia.

This is the price of having crazy law.

rizki1, 01 Nov 2024Motorola has been out in Indonesia since 2018... not becaus... moreThe reason is more or less the same.
Motorola, Sony, OnePlus etc. just don't have enough user base in Indonesia to justify foreign investment for obeying the regulations. Hence, they left.
