Apple pledges $10 million in Indonesia factory to circumvent iPhone 16 ban

      Well well. It only took a week until apple responded to Indonesia's apple ban. Then Indonesia Lift's iPhone 16 sales ban. And Indonesians can now purchase an iPhone.

The risk vs benefit is too big to establish an actual shop there. India has Foxconn, while Vietnam is less restrictive for foreign investments.

                      Eh? Only 10 million dollars? How disrespectful. Not even an official Apple Store and Service Center in Indonesia. Just ban all apple devices altogether in Indonesia. People who can buy apple products are rich enough people so they would buy another product immediately after the ban. They know better not to mess with Indonesian and their hundred millions of citizens.

                        Not enough.

                        They should invest more $10 billion to expand factories bruh

                                        Brazil tried a similar local content rule in the last century. Other than a Motorola factory or two, or just greatly restricted the country's technological development. Even tariffs would be less harmful than an import ban like this.
